PLAYING AROUND WITH DISCO 23022023

The first of the live recordings to be released from Soak presents FAC51 Hacienda Open Air's special day party at Canvas Yard, with Greg Wilson's full set which typically takes in exclusive edits and versions of many classic tracks featuring The Orb, Orbital and the excellent Massive Attack.

The set was recorded 13:30pm until 15:00pm and was perfect while the venue was filling up.

Ahead of our appearance on the 8th October at Defected Malta where we host a house foundations (86-96) stage, Stuart Patterson has compiled a mix of some Faith favourites from the period.  100% vinyl it takes in early vocals from Intense, Tammy Banks and Velma Wright, deepness from Precious and Swing 52.  Darker and tribal sounds from Funky Green Dogs and Kiwi Dreams, a touch of wild pitch from DJ Pierre in his Phuture Scope guise and a drop of acid from The Endless Poker. Plus plenty more early house joints that help shaped the house music phenomenon  that still stands strong today.

Winner of the DJ Mag Top 100 Lifetime Achievement Award (November 2022) DJ Paulette is a highly regarded DJ across the UK and Europe, born and raised in (and still resident of) Manchester. Over a 30-year career, she has scaled the heights of dance music fame and hedonism playing disco, house and techno to huge crowds and in cool underground basements. She is a dj who is renowned for consistently ‘smashing’ every set she plays. One of two women to have a residency at the Hacienda in its heyday, she went on to have residencies at Heaven and Ministry of Sound, before successful stints in Paris and Ibiza. She has a keen talent for reinvention and replicating excellence. She has monthly radio shows with Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide FM, Reform Radio and a Global Residency show produced in collaboration with The Radio Department that is syndicated to stations around the world. on 6 Music she has been standing in for Afrodeutsche on The People's Party, Amy Lame's morning show and Craig Charles on 6 Music. 

She has played headline sets at Beams in London, Warehouse Project – Glitterbox, Homobloc and Hacienda, Maceo's and the NYC Downlow for Block 9, San Remo, Stonebridge, Greenpeace at Glastonbury, Beatherder, Brixton Disco Festival, Worldwide Festival in Sete, Mighty Hoopla, Horsemeat Disco in Berlin, Kelburn Garden Party, The National Theatre River Stage, Gilles Peterson’s stage for All Points East,  Brighton Pride, Glitterbox at Hi Ibiza, Flow Festival in Finland, Homoelectric, Feel It at Omeara and Fatboy Slim’s Weekender ‘All Back to Minehead’. Apart from dj’ing Paulette is an events and exhibition curator and a regular contributor to radio shows as diverse as Jamz Supernova on 6Music, Radcliffe and Maconie , Afrodeutsche’s ‘The People’s Party’, Anamatronic’s ‘Dance Devotion’, Eats Everything’s ‘Edible Beats’ and for the end of 2023 she will be closing Homobloc with a B2B with the Blessed Madonna. She sits on the Regional Committee for the Musicians’ Union and is a Power Up mentor for shesaidso. Her ‘jewel in the crown’? Her debut book ‘Welcome To The Club’ will be published in January 2024 on Manchester University Press.
