Our musical guest this week is @lente, who creates a groovy and playful sound, moving the audience into a flowy trip. He began in the electronic scene in Oslo where he started to make his own parties and productions. He is known for long and deep sets played in clubs such as Sisyphos, Kater Blau and many others. In Oslo he is known for crazy day parties and sets, allowing his listeners to get lost in between. Currently he is working with his studio buddy Dennis Jernelius on 2 upcoming singles for Edelgran Records. 

Lente believes in freedom and peace, and that’s also the message he seeks to spread – giving people a great time and a chance to love each other.

For our 4th episode of The Mandrake sessions we got a groovy daytime set by our wonderful friend Madmotormiquel. One and a half hour of sunny feel good tunes out of his incredible music collection...

He visited us, together with the Berlin crew Birdmilk, Heimlich Knüller and the Sorry Entertainer, for an unforgettable New Years Eve celebration and we are very excited to welcome him back for Halloween 2021.

So ist das, wenn man seinem Held aus der (musikalischen) Jugend dann endlich mal persönlich begegnet: Man hat gehörig die Hosen voll. Vor allem wenn der Anlass nicht eine zufällige Begegnung im Backstagebereich ist, sondern ein offiziell anberaumtes Interview im Studio des Künstlers... Es geht ja auch nicht um irgendeinen Künstler, sondern um einen, der so viel kreativen Output hat, dass ein Künstlerprojekt nicht einmal reicht. Und so ist er alleine oder als Teil von Projekten unter mehreren Namen unterwegs und viele wissen nicht einmal, dass hinter allen der gleiche kreative Kopf steckt. Bei jedem einzelnen dieser Namen, würde ein genaueres auf das Werk eingehen einen ewig langen Rattenschwanz an beteiligten Namen und Veröffentlichungen nach sich ziehen. Alleine die Tatsache, dass Console nun bereits seit 1995 am produzieren und veröffentlichen ist, spricht für sich. 5 Studio-Alben entstanden in dieser Zeit, so wie ein Live-Album, welches im legendären Pariser Centre Pompidou aufgezeichnet wurde. Acid Pauli wiederum ist auch immerhin bereits seit zehn Jahren am Start und hat neben einem Album einfach unzählige Tracks, Remixe und Produktionen in Kooperationen herausgebracht, dass sie hier aufzuzählen gar nicht möglich ist.

Mit all diesem Wissen und der Erinnerung an unzählige Clubabende in der Münchner Roten Sonne und einigen Fusions im Publikum steht also unser Autor bei Martin Gretschmann, wie Acid Pauli mit bürgerlichem Namen heißt, an einem Donnerstag-Abend pünktlich vor dem Studio in Berlin und freut sich auf das Interview ebenso wie er es fürchtet. A message from the artist
This year, the unforgettable 2020, I'm celebrating 20 years of Djing.  Its been an incredible journey filled with loads of art, love and positive energy.   The COVID-19 outbreak opened up an opportunity to reset and reflect on where it all started.  Reflecting on my early roots and a time I was young, free, completely transfixed with the art of DJing and the music it embodies. For over 2 decades now, I've managed to develop an ear for all sounds and discovered that music has no borders nor boundaries.  It's an audible escape, that can transpose you to your chosen oasis, albeit within one's own mind.

For this mix, I tried to create a psychedelic journey into sounds that have influenced me as an artist and best represent the community amongst us.  My message through this is for us to remember that everything flows and all is connected, we are but one vibration, floating through space.  

Thank you to Corr and Jai for the invitation and for the great work you are doing with the Flow platform for the community and the greater world.

dj phono 
has no fear of failing, for if he shall fail it will be with utter jubilation. he has nothing to loose, but is willing to risk everything. this makes him uncomfortable and unpredictable for all those who dare nothing in life. one thought that never troubles him during his morning toilet is: "impulsive menschen kennen keine grenzen".
even though being a member of the formation deichkind has evolved dj phono into a different person one should refrain from confusing the two. neither does dj phono produce music for deichkind, nor does their repertoire appear in his dj set.
he is the brain behind the deichkind liveshow and the whole overriding concept hidden within the techno lunacy. right from the off he has continuously and tirelessly attempted to force a gap between proletarian and sophisticated culture. he is a hellbender and merciless critic of the band luring them towards the end of the branch.
dj phono and bon jovi have nothing in common. this is why phono composes music that he likes. “party is my profession” is what he usually replies when being asked, why at 5 am in the morning he is still to be found at the pudel club - sober. there is always something new to discover, no matter where you look.
this explains why he has turned his back on the usual “hau den lukas”-method and ignores expectations. he rather likes to pick the bananas from the trees of slow mounting tensions, because dj phono is never bored on stage: yes, he will even turn of his mobile phone off just to be alone with you.
categories and limitations are only to be vanquished. people often create strange convoluted sentences in an attempt to describe his music. someone once said very fittingly: “emotional-temporary-minimal-but-then-more-and-more-techno-with- pop-appeal-thru-techhouse-suitable-for-dancing-taking-the-cake-techno-electro+surprise”. music associated with labels like kompakt, get physical, dial, playhouse, smallville, systematic, dfa, environ, ibadan, border community, ostgut ton, pampa, circus company, bpitch control and liebe detail. boring, dreary minimal-poppycock, is simply left out.
2011 he will start a new chapter.
dj phono will finally release his new album “welcome to wherever you’re not” on hamburg’s record label diynamic. the release will be flanked with a supranormal liveperformance. LEDs, hydraulics, roboter, radio technology and projections alternate the room. daft punk and etienne de crecy will be delighted. the concept comprises artists developing individual visual concepts for each album song and implying the respective localities and contexts.
dj phono is also a member of the band extra (1978). in 1998 he was european-vice-scratch-champion and incidentally, when he’s in the mood, he also produces and mixes music for others – former cooperation’s include artists such as erobi- que, egoexpress, commercial breakup, international pony and die goldenen zitronen.
dj phono has no hobbies.
