Founding member of Axces Recordings and Danish DJ/producer Kasper Marott returns to the Bassiani airwaves with a Zenaari edition that studies a much more phrenic side of his musical world. Driven by instinct, his work reflects a single minded aversion to commercial orthodoxy and the regular grind of a 40 hour work week: it’s all about feeling and a passion for creating the sounds that have kept him and his Copenhagen crew together, ‘nature, friends, family, home’. Forget the springy beats and dulcet melodies this time round, here is something entirely different and new. In stark contrast to his catalogue of jovial anthems, the likes of breakthrough hit Keflavik and 2021’s Mini Trance, Kasper’s inward-looking work slows those rhythms right down and investigates the possibilities of a sound much more restricted in palette. It’s a surprising turnaround for someone whose name evokes the breezy basslines of open-air jaunts, one packed with vibrating synths, understated instrumentals, and the electronic crackling of a wood fire on a balmy summer night. Zenaari Mix 018 is Kasper Marott like you’ve never heard him before, far from the dancefloor and burdening constraints of a rave context, Zenaari gives his inner world a voice, and the result is a rich, human and deep-toned 67 minute cut recorded in studio for this latest in the series.

Shoal makes his debut on space•lab with the Ular EP, a four-track expedition that deepens his fluid, percussive and richly textured signature sound. Known for crafting immersive sonic environments, Shoal blends intricate rhythms with deep organic pulses, creating dynamic structures that evolve with subtle precision.

The tracks move with a focused energy, driven by detailed percussion and layered sound design, offering moments of intensity and spaciousness that strike a natural balance. Shoal’s instinctive command of rhythm and tension is on full display, delivering club-ready material, some of which has been road-tested in live performances. 

The Ular EP is a powerful addition to Shoal’s growing body of work, further solidifying his place as one of the most standout producers in contemporary techno.

Titled Kill Your Darlings, the record approaches noise as both discipline and rupture: a raw dialogue of detuned guitars, clattering metal percussion, and warped tape loops, reined into form without losing their bite.

"It was one of those nights. The hot, heavy and thick air was sticking to my skin. The daylight wouldn’t fade that day, and the whole city was baked. The scorched asphalt stayed warm long into the night. I didn’t want to go anywhere. A tired Friday. I made myself a kombucha with vodka and cola. The ice melted immediately. I grabbed my hip bag and stepped into the dark.

I felt a bit nauseous the moment I hit the street. Excited, I don’t even know why. The night soaked into my t-shirt; I had it under my nails. I let the night pull me willingly, I let go of the reins.

Mu’taism started his set and it was like sliding into old slippers that just wouldn’t stop moving. The vibrating, marsh-like humidity was tangible throughout the whole club. I slowly plunged in so I could keep hearing those voices coming from a strange dimension inside my belly. A few last breaths before the black water surface closes over my head, and I dissolve."
