Templo Solar is a new music label based between Lima and Berlin. For their first release they prepared a compilation with an impressive line up of Latin American producers (including long-time Basy Tropikalne favourites like Vudufa, Selvagia or Renzo Zong) and an even more impressive cause - all the profits will be donated to the Peruvian NGO called Somos Amazonias which raises funds for the  Amazonian communities affected by the pandemic. First taste of the album comes in a form of 'Dos Caras', a track produced by acknowledged Guatemalan producer Di Laif who paired traditional Latin elements (i.e. flutes and chants) with heavy electronic music sound to obtain captivating and gripping composition.

INSULA • noun • /ˌɪn.sjəˈlæ/
 Latin term meaning island.

An avatar that uses Indo-Oceanic rituals to bring different periods together as well as the rhythms of the north of the world to promote a Maloya-Afro-Futurist concept.

Through this pseudonym, Mickael Gravina takes his musical and sonic origins and uses them as an island (a starter, a nucleus) connected to the cosmos for our next release on Babani Records.

Concocted on the Red Island, we bring you the first two tracks "BONDIÉ MALOUBARY" and "KABARY", leading to his debut album "TRMBA" in December. The first one relating to a god from Madagascar and the latter to a ceremony.

INSULA, a multidisciplinary artist from Reunion Island, is interested in electronic music, or more specifically, in the "concrete music" that defines the sounds. This radically impresses itself on the listener. He comes face to face with a monster that lives by its own rules and norms, without making any concessions. Music is fascinating and it is capable of carrying within it a relationship to the world, something otherwise unspeakable.

His attempt at creating music is a kind of monster that, in truth, speaks to the globalised times we live in, a fusion of traditional and contemporary elements set to electronic and maloya music. It goes without saying that the mythology of the Indo-Oceanic, Malagasy, African, and many others nourish his creative production using a variety of instruments (Mauritians, Reunionese, Indians, Malagasy, and Creoles).

INSULA, this island where genders, races and cultures converge.

ZamZam 21 bears two long-awaited boom shots from the master of post-national spaces and sonics, El Mahdy Jr.

Last Breath is a mesmerizing plunge into dark realms, cavernous spaces, and worlds of echo.  A gorgeous Turkish female singing voice suspends time, circling and sparring with itself, setting the stage for a massive half step riddim.  The huge one-drop is worth the wait, the kick so huge it will suck the air from a room and open a chasm beneath the dance floor.  Echoing snares create a hallucinatory space that will have trainspotters and dancers alike calling for rewinds.

Last Deal is another 140 bpm power play, bringing El Mahdy’s love for classic dub and reggae closer to the surface than ever.  A huge riddim guided by a Stalag-style baseline and dancehall-flavored doubling of kick & snare power the tune, leaving plenty of space for samples, balmy barnyard ambience, and then a vertiginous plunge into the fevered, cavernous spaces he is known for.  This tune has it all, merging the familiar with the strange into an absolutely unique dubwise brew.

Of Algerian origin, now living and working in Turkey, Mahdy’s star has risen quickly.  His debut LP on Portland’s Boomarm Nation sold out instantly, and earned spots on many end-of-year lists, recognized for his wildly original mix of broken, blunted beats and ethnographic sampladelia.  Numerous magazine features and subsequent releases on Boomarm, Deep Medi (alongside dubstep star Gantz), and most recently Danse Noire have cemented Mahdy’s rep as an artist with an utterly unique vision, grounded in his own lived experience, but unlimited by geography, language, culture or genre constraints.

Context: This is sacred music of the cult of Ryangombe, a legendary hero whose adherents had to undergo initiation rites. Here, a group of men sing of the Umuhara – spirits – in a song that was never performed outside of its ritual context so as not to risk the wrath of the spirits.

The next release on @infinite-machine comes courtesy of Australian producer @galtier, who last appeared on the label back in 2016 with the 'Myth Codes' EP. His deep love of bass brought him to Bristol, where he now makes stark, dystopian club music and runs the Nostro Hood System imprint.

The concept for Galtier's new EP 'Terran' is centered around a lone human drifting through space, which parallels the unknown future of life and the endless possibilities that perpetually arise throughout it. The EP is presented as a sense of hope - encouragement to all that even though they often drift through their spiritual life alone, they are not alone on this journey.

A lush collection of aural postcards from Indonesia to East Africa from punk ethnomusicologist Julien Hairon (a.k.a Judgitzu) – Bunong lullabies, Javanese horse trance music,  folks song of the Hadzabe bushmen of Tanzania, Ugandan “embaire” xylophones, and more. Most of the sounds and music here are culled from his field recording project Les Cartes Postales Sonores. He also runs the cassette reissue label PetPets'TAPES and recently released an album with Nyege Nyege Tapes.
