A quick tour of one of the 7 mixes we put together for Bellyfit's Embodied Goddess Program.

All music in the mini-mix is licensed for use (including promotional use) to Bellyfit Enterprises Inc.  

This mix is the first in the series of mixes that have been licensed for the Embodied Goddess Program videos, Honour Your Roots. The songs have been selected to fit the aspects of this video, which are the Root Chakra, the continent of Europe and the Gaia deity. The mix as a whole resonates with the earth, has a richness of live instruments, percussion and vocals and is full of the world fusion, high energy fun vibe. 

The mix is glued together with the 'Temple of Dreams', which is a very soft and gentle resonating backdrop with some long-decay string melodies and deep resonating chanting/drone sounds.

The pre-cardio track is by Ganga Giri and it is called 'Pacha Mama', and it is a fun, groovy, dubby kind of dance tune that really sets the tone for the mix.

The next track is called Takk Mimi and has a really fun & bouncy violin melody with some eastern European or middle-eastern percussion licks which will surely keep any aspiring or seasoned belly dancers in the groove! Takk Mimi has a really fun and suspenseful breakdown and buildup that keeps the beat going throughout before it drops into a fantastic and funky main section with the soaring violin melody.

Next up is 'Dimensional Wisdom', a more percussive tribal track that has some great intensity and a heavy solid beat. This track has some almost eerie female vocals and a rich driving guitar-like solo riff that comes in during the breakdown that builds the tension and leads up to the explosive beat drops. This track keeps the energy up and has lots of space for you to really feel the beat and settle into whatever choreography you are running for your class!

The last cardio track is 'Zukravaara' which is another excellent world-fusion dance tune with a combination of heavy tribal beats and fun and uplifting melodies, this one featuring a woodwind instrument, perhaps a clarinet or bassoon that appears throughout the track to reinforce the melody line.

The isolation track, 'Dub the Magic Derrière' is a rich ethno-fusion downtempo track with rich vocals, flutes and horn stabs to accompany a lovely organic percussion groove and nice electronic drums & bass.

The strength track is a funky, bass-driven track called 'Fun Farmacy' which features a nifty piano melody and some very deep and heavy bass drops. The rhythm is what could be called 'dub' or half speed, so when you are counting your measures and running your core exercises, count the faster (double time) rhythm and it will feel like the exact same speed as other core tracks, which is approximately 110bpm. This track is sure to keep your participants interested and motivated as you help them develop their strength and core power!

This is the live set that I recorded this year at The Living Room Stage  Shambhala Music Festival. The first half is the #bellyfit workshop led by my wife Alice, then it flowed right into an hour long solo set.

DJ Rowan Shambhala 2018 set @ The Living Room Stage

Live set recorded at Constellations IV, December 15 2018 at Brag Creek, Alberta. This was a one-night, winter solstice, mini-festival put on by the legendary Inshala Festival crew. I am deeply honoured to have been a part of this amazing event. Thanks to all of the dancers, organizers, djs and hosts of this event! 
This mix was prime time at this event and was a journey through some of my favorite deep/afro/tech house flavours from the last year or so.
