Nikko.Z's Dopamine White opens the new year by welcoming ShemoW to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from the progressive house hotbed of Sri Lanka, ShemoW's passion for music production was sparked after a viewing of the 2015 UMF After Movie trailer, a moment which marked his journey into becoming a DJ and producer. After years of honing his skills, the Rathnapura resident emerged with his first offerings in 2019, a trio of releases which laid the foundation for his future as a progressive house artist. 2024 proved to be the most impactful year, with ShemoW recording projects for 3rd Avenue, Balkan Connection, Kodai and Soundteller, amongst others. Now firmly solidified as a newcomer to watch, ShemoW begins 2025 with his Dopamine White debut ‘Glitchwave'.

The charged progressive vibes of ‘Glitchwave' set the pace for ShemoW's two-track showcase. Beefy kick drums, pulsating grooves and rugged percussion lay the foundation for pyrotechnic synth mutations and orbiting effects to paint an electric storyboard, while an ominous break serves to build tension and anticipation onwards to a thunderous drop and cosmically correct finale.

The second and final selection 'Echoes in the Void' lands with equal dancefloor vigor, as ShemoW flexes his groove crafting prowess across the seven-minute piece. Mystical textures and filtered noise highlight a character-rich top line, as evolving percussive arrangements create a confident club energy leading into the break. Spanning nearly two minutes in length, the interlude melts down to a quiet calm, carefully withholding energy for a peak time conclusion to round out the release on a huge note.

The Munich-based label Plattenbank, led by Guy Manzur, presents a striking two track release that brings together an unexpected artistic collaboration. While ECHO DAFT has previously contributed to Plattenbank with tracks on the fifth and ninth editions of the label's bestselling compilation, Secrets, this marks the first official release showcasing his studio partnership with Kebin Van Reeken. Both artists have built strong international followings, and their combined efforts have resulted in a seamlessly crafted 17-minute sonic journey that could stand as one of the creative high points in their careers.

The opening track, Years of Ascent, sets the tone with a hypnotic groove and distinctive percussion, stirring deep-seated memories and invoking instinctive movement reminiscent of ancient ceremonial dances. At the same time, its refined production techniques ensure an immersive experience, whether played through massive festival sound systems or in more intimate club settings. The arrangement builds subtly, reaching a peak just before the fifth minute, where the musical vision converges with resonant feedback that energizes any dance floor.

The second track, Mysterious Drag, extends the mood but shifts the focus toward an infectious melody. It takes center stage, gradually emerging from the background, shaping the emotional arc, and culminating in a euphoric peak designed for maximum dance-floor impact.

With this release, ECHO DAFT and Kebin Van Reeken have created a cohesive yet distinctive work that leaves the door open for future collaborations while standing firmly as a testament to their shared artistry.

The original is raw and untamed, with a unique vocal sample weaving through pulsating basslines and crisp percussion. Swirling synth textures rise and fall, creating a sense of controlled chaos—dark yet infectious, designed to send dance floors into a frenzy. Brazils André Gazolla delivers a remix that turns up the heat, refining the originals intensity into a high-energy, peak-time weapon. His version retains the vocal but twists it into something even more mind-bending, layering it over rolling bass and intricate drum programming. Matthew Sona takes a deeper approach, stripping Mental down to its essential groove while maintaining its captivating essence.
