An EP with its origins in the island nation of Sri Lanka, "Yavapai / Horus" brings together a trio of outstanding talents. Combining across two distinctive tracks, Dimuth K, A-JAY (SL) and Shannon Davin create a collaborative masterpiece.

From the Colombo capital, Dimuth Karunaratne has beguiled the underground dance fraternity through his Dimuth K contraction. Involved in music throughout his life, Dimuth quickly became a sought-after DJ, "transfixing crowds with his groovy, progressive house sets". Moving into the production arena with his unique style, Dimuth K quickly found his work reaching the catalogues of the finest underground imprints after a debut for Big Toys Production in mid-2015. Going on to feature on the likes of Balkan Connection, Movement Recordings and Max Graham's "Cycles 8" in January 2017, Dimuth K continues to strike a chord with support from Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren and Gai Barone.

An accomplished DJ with performances alongside such notable figures as Jeremy Olander and Above and Beyond, A-JAY has been a regular across the clubs of his Colombo home city with his tech and deep house infused music. A production career has brought similar success after 2015's "The Monks Haunted" debut for Egothermia. Further work for Patent Skillz, Suffused Music and Occultech have continued to find the Sri Lankan in much demand in both the live and production arenas. Another early adopter of electronic music, Shannon Davin's early dreams blossomed into realisation when he found techno. Founder of the 'Reverb Underground Movement' which created a DJ collective of young artists developing entertainment for young audiences, Davin's production career finds him with almost a century of production credits. Patent Skillz, Lethal Dose and Mistique Music have all featured the Sri Lankan's work since June 2015's collaboration with Eightfold on Diamond Blu and January 2018's "Hildr" EP on Plazma Records showcasing highly impressive production credentials.

Returning to Particles after remixes of Simply City and Tim Penner, "Yavapai" is Dimuth K's first original material for the label. Teaming up with A-JAY, the track is characterised by a strong, rolling groove filled with percussive intricacy. Building impressively, a swathe of incongruous melodic lines twist and turn together in stuttered and freeform glory. Through a coruscating array of rhythm and melody, "Yavapai" is a study in technique and innovation. 

Partnering with Shannon Davin on "Horus", Dimuth K continues with a strong rhythmic groove on "Horus" as a huge analogue bassline fills the lower frequency range in raw sine wave power. Introducing melodic components in the second movement, delayed chords criss-cross the stereo spectrum in hypnotic glory while a chorus of sixteenth shakers and off-beat hats supply dancefloor urgency in a track that evolves intelligently over its near nine-minute voyage.

Sri Lankan underground dance talent is in full evidence as Dimuth K, A-JAY (SL) and Shannon Davin provide a golden sunlit touch with "Yavapai / Horus".

Un progressive house permisivo muy cercano al sonido afro con una percucucion muy dinámica y selecta. Con unas melodías muy profundas inspiradas en el original de Leandro , donde el toque final seria esos aires afro y etnicos arabescos.

The latest from Deersky’s Soundteller Records welcomes Andy King to the label for his debut single. The UK artist lays claim to a meticulous discography highlighted by releases on BCSA, Proton Music and Stripped Digital. After capping off a successful 2019 with a release on Solarstone’s Pure Progressive imprint, Andy now debuts on Soundteller with ‘Hemisphere’ alongside remixes from Eric Lune and Monojoke.

Always surfing the genre barriers with an effortless ease, Andy explores his pure progressive roots on ‘Hemisphere’. Beautifully designed, it’s tough galloping beats play off shimmering arps and spacey sweeps across the first act, before eventually melting down into a tranquil break. Creating tension with each successive loop, ghostly wails drift across the framework, as muted rhythms gently rumble below. Cosmic synths then steal air at opportune moments, washing away the atmosphere into a rush of beats and percussion for a powerful finale.

Fresh off a stunning remix for Stellar Fountain, it’s Eric Lune who provides the first interpretation of ‘Hemisphere’. The Australian artist remains one of the progressive scenes fasting rising stars and his uncanny knack for crafting feel good melodies continues here. Clocking in at nearly ten minutes in length, it’s soulful strums, playful musicality and buoyant groove are joyous to say the least. Not lost in this is are dynamic moments though, particularly during the main break. Complete with striking electronics and impassioned harmonics, it serves as the ideal centrepiece for this epic journey.

Rounding out the release and providing the second and final interpretation of ‘Hemisphere’ is label artist Monojoke. Returning for his 10th appearance, the Polish artist follows his hit ‘Neon Desert’ from September of last year with a superb remix here. Drawing on the sensibilities of the original the Cracow resident adds layer after layer of melodic colour. It’s this trademark sound which has made him such a huge favourite amongst progressive house fans, and with a truly exhilarating break it really does round the release out on a massive note. Big time stuff from Monojoke and a beautiful release from Deersky’s Soundteller Records. Highly recommended.

Andy King - Hemisphere (Original Mix)

Sarajevo based producer A Skitzo makes his return on the Dutch 90watts imprint after the 2018 release of 'It's Not Over'. In the meantime he has released his music on Soundteller Records and David Hohme's Where The Heart Is amongst others.

'Sevd Ahh' relies heavily on ethnic influences with a traditional vocal, middle eastern influenced melodies and tribal percussive rhythms. A very catchy track, not in the last place because of it's infectious bassline and overall intense atmosphere.

On remix duties Miami based producer KAMADEV makes his return on 90watts after last years 'Ananga EP'. The Manual Music artist pushes 'Sevd Ahh' more in a melodic progressive house direction with his interpretation. Straight forward and banging, a true peak time crowd pleaser this one!

The latest release from Nikko.Z's Dopamine White welcomes Dinusha Ranasinghe aka Echo Daft to the label for his debut EP ‘The Magic of Nature'. Following his first release in 2018, projects for Guy Mantzur's Plattenbank Records and Soundteller Records quickly made him one of Sri Lanka's top up and coming artists. Now the Colombo resident presents his first productions of 2020 alongside remixes from Fabri Lopez and Teklix. 
Beginning with ‘The Magic of Nature' Echo Daft explores the deeper spectrum of progressive minded house. Its warm, fluid groove is perfectly contoured, adorned with finely tuned percussion, glistening chimes and subtle shades and tones. Its luminous lead theme comes to full fruition during the main break, veering into emotive territory, before a tasteful arp pulls you back into a meditative state for a spellbinding finale. The companion piece ‘Dishonest Horn' follows a similar sonic ethos with a slight lean closer to peak time territory. Sitting at the foundation is a robust, rolling groove, lively rhythms and waves of fiery percussion. Mysterious and mystical from the outset, the piece flows through icy pads and gaseous atmospheres, before a distinctive tonal theme highlights the main break, sparking an exhilarating drop and finale. 
The lone interpretation of ‘The Magic of Nature' is provided by Fabri Lopez who makes his label debut. Hailing from Villa Mercedes, the Argentinean artist has been hyped as one of his country's top up and coming progressive house producers. Releases on Balkan Connection and Clubsonica Records coupled with support from Hernan Cattaneo highlight his career thus far. Now following a well received single for AMITABHA Fabri debuts on Dopamine While with a groovy interpretation of ‘The Magic of Nature'. Adding more of a pure progressive vibe, Fabri reshapes the groove into something much chunkier and more distinct, while catchy arps and clattering percussion fill in the framework. The main theme translates nicely, sitting gently under the surface, before elegantly opening up as the narrative evolves into a classy final act.
The release concludes with Teklix providing the lone interpretation of ‘Dishonest Horn'. Much like Echo Daft, Nisal Jay aka Teklix has been touted as one Sri Lanka's progressive new breed, already landing releases on Droid9 and Massive Harmony Records. Now landing on Dopamine White for his first appearance, Teklix rounds out the release with a powerful rendition of ‘Dishonest Horn'. The Colombo resident crafts a fuller rendition which appropriately carries more energy and tempo than the original. Its drive quickly becomes infectious, propelled by percussive cadence, twisted arps and phasing noise. Ominous pads rise into the main break, elevating mood, tension and scope before a powerful roll sparks a huge finale. A massive remix from Teklix which caps off another essential release for Nikko.Z's Dopamine White. Don't miss it.
