Having a love of music for as long as he can remember and making his mark on the DJing circuit at the young age of 15, Johnny Yates has been delivering electrifying sets across the UK.

During the earlier DJing years, he secured residencies and guest slots at various venues around his hometown of Newbury and Southern England. He has been widely sought after; headlining for Beardyfest 2017 and 2018 and recently headlined at the Rhad Arts Festival in Wales and will be playing their New Year show in December. 

Growing up in the entertainments industry from a young age – securing his first residency at 16 with an avid love for underground house music, infusing a driving dance sound with influences from African, Latin and other world cultures, his sets are always fresh and captivating. His performances are not limited to purely House - demonstrably as long running resident DJ in a Rock/Ska/Indie bar early on in his career. It was here where he learned first-hand how to work a crowd and discovered his love of connecting people on the dancefloor. Since then he has delivered a huge number of open format performances - learning how to mix between genres with ease and finesse from countless gigs over the last 12 years. 

He went on to study Film at Bristol (UWE) where he was immersed into the rapturous night life of Bristol’s underground music scene. Enthralled by stunning DJs and the dazzling club scene, he broadened his music knowledge and taste. This was the catalyst for the beginning of his own music production - creating tribal house. Playing his first track out in the summer of 2016, he was mesmerised by the eruptively positive response from the crowd and knew he had a knack for forging thumping dance music.

Johnny has since propelled his DJing career to the capital in the last few years and has landed a gig at an exhilarating East London venue. He boasts a massive and staggeringly diverse track catalogue and extensive music knowledge including genres like House, Hip-Hop, Old-school, RnB, Cheese, Indie, Reggae, Dub, Rock and Pop. He is set on broadening out further into London to dish out sensational sets across the rest of the UK.
