Another year at the Burn = another BRCAC + Duck Pond party!  @erickrause @theysayheygreg @princessjae and I took over the decks from 2 to 7 and played through both a rain storm and dust storm, while the Scarab relayed our sound outside. As one of the fastest rising stars in the scene OFIER has been involved in the scene for quite some time, but recent years have seen incredible developments for the rising artist. Between his music, like a new record with Morpei that's due out on Desert Hearts, and his performances at festivals like Lightning in a Bottle along with many others, it is clear that he's truly dedicated to spreading love and positivity wherever he goes.

While live music has been on standby OFIER has been staying active during the coronavirus pandemic. Over the past few months, the San Diego-based artist has produced new music, played countless digital shows, provided insight into his production process via platforms like Facebook, and established deeper roots in the local electronic music scene. 

Of course, it's all part of the process, but there is no doubt OFIER is en route to big things. After chatting with his brother last month, we couldn't pass up the chance to sit down with him, so read all about this rising star and listen to his guest mix!

The theme musically was more on the Acid House/Techno tip so I kindly obliged with my own personal breed of such music. A couple of months ago, when we heard that we were going to get to mix our first Essential Mix, we had absolutely no idea what we were going to do. It's a very big deal for us to do this mix. We decided to use a lot of old records and tracks that we really liked when we first started playing together in our hometown in Poland. That's why, for example, we asked Jacek Sienkiewicz to send us 'Dream Machine' and also why we included Michael Mayer 'Speaker'.
There is a lot of old vinyl that we included especially for our Essential Mix. Harry Kane, T-RWKR, Arto Mwambe, Needs, Terry Brooks and one of our all time favourite records from Alex Cortex that we even edited specially. We really have to thank Axel Boman for introducing us to Bassroots 'Good Life' and Marcin Czubala because we discovered Sofrito Specials through him.
There is something from our label Pets Recordings, that our friend Nikola Baytala from San Francisco will put out at the end of May. It will be his first EP for many years and this track is probably one of the most trippy things we've ever released. That's why we love it so much! There are a lot of tracks in the mix that have their own story but, for now, we're gonna let the music speak for itself'. Catz 'n Dogz, April 2013.

I started DJing waaaay back in 1985, playing vinyl on my technic 1200s. As the years passed I began going to underground raves and put my headphones down in the early 90s to the early 2000s. Then around 2007 I was introduced to Tractor, wasn’t too big of a fan though, then about 4 years later my friend DJ HiFidelity asked me to come over and we played some tracks on his Pioneer 1000 cdjs, that used cds and I was once again hooked playing music. Since then I’ve had the privilege of playing some great parties and clubs around the Los Angeles area. My love for playing music for others has grown from a flame to a roaring inferno, and I take every opportunity I am given with joy and gratitude.
