Yan's passion for dub techno was ignited when he stumbled upon mixes by Andrey Pushkarev and Kirill Matveev. Captivated by the genre's fusion of groovy drums, deep bass lines, and ethereal chords submerged in rich delay and reverb, Yan embarked on his own mixing journey. His selection spans a wide spectrum, ranging from minimal lofi dub techno to energetic deep house and minimal techno tunes tailor-made for the dance floor.

JIM MUSIK:
Well I've been DJing for 20yrs the last 10yrs with laptops and my controlers. I've produced tunes in the past but my kits outdated or broken. I've put on Chill Tents at festivals  with freinds, now just playing out at a mates barn with soundsystem on his farm. I'm always on the hunt for the next  cool tune thats got something that makes me move and build mixes around them for my own pleasure. I'm just hooked on all the new Dub Techno coming out.

Born in the 80's, real name Marco, from teen age started to go to clubs in Lisbon, Portugal.
Allways exposed to all genres of music since childhood, founded in electronic music a way to produce his own sounds, mainly focus in the techno spectrum.

She also graduated from studies in contemporary classical composition at the State University of Music and the Performing Arts in Stuttgart and sound engineering at JVLMA in Riga. Founder of Predawn Records. Her musical interest lies in the physicality of sounds and rhythmic structures, how space and sound work together and can evoke a wide variety of emotional reactions.

Feeling the sun sending its powerful warmth and light onto our home planet is a typical joy in these summer months. This beautiful star nourishes all beings around us and keeps entire ecosystems alive. Akob, as adepts of the sun, send out their musical waves to build their own garden of sound that enriches our "Dynamic Spheres" this month.

Akob are a DJ, producer and live act duo based in Berlin and Paris. Their interest in scientific theories, dystopian novels and humanity's relationship with the Earth informs their music and drives them to explore different sonic territories. In recent years, they have defined and refined their sonic identity through releases on acclaimed labels such as Lowless, Kvltö, Circular Limited, Planet Rhythm and The Gods Planet. Sophisticated live sets are also part of their repertoire, where they rearrange their studio material and improvise over it with various synthesizers, samplers and effects, making each performance unique.

This hybrid mix contains almost exclusively their own productions and is characterised by their typical sound aesthetic, which combines strong basslines, trippy percussive elements and deep, multi-layered atmospheres. The next 78 minutes take the listener on a mysterious journey into the depths of Akob's musical universe, which holds many inspiring surprises in store. 

The set was recorded live at Amaluna in Paris for an ecstatic dance organised by Anecdote et Alizée.

For our thirteenth installment we’ve invited Aurelius Scott, a visionary curator and music selector from Denver, Colorado. 

Aurelius has always been attracted to deeper cuts of music, fascinated by the world of rhythmic drums and hypnotic ambiance. 

in 2020 he started a series Anodynic Frequencies that is dedicated to fellow musicians with the same passion for music. Since then he has connected with many talented individuals and has had the opportunity to work with many of them through guest mixes and promotions. 

It has been through this platform that we came in contact and talked about recording a mix for Hypnosis, of which you are now listening to the end result of it.

Some words by Aurelius about this mix:
"When I was first invited to the channel I wanted to paint a dreamlike landscape. Slowly drifting into the subconscious with subtle progression and brooding low ends. Eventually leading to a feverish current of rhythmic percussion before drifting deeper and deeper with layered sounds to curate a deep state of hypnosis"

HYPNOSIS 013 AURELIUS SCOTT

Continuum: a coherent whole characterized as a collection, sequence, or progression of values or elements varying by minute degrees.

The second stop as we travel through The Continuum, takes us into the sonic universe of Ryogo Yamamori. The Tokyo mainstay and underground veteran captivated us when we first visited Japan in 2019, with a set at Vent that left us speechless. Since then, he has been a favorite and one we have been following. His productions, always psychedelic but stripped-down, have made appearances in some of the techno heavyweights we all know, like Non Series, Navigare Audio, or Node Recordings. But most of his output can be found on his own fantastic label, Kagerou. 

For his Continuum contribution, Yamamori presents a slice of his take on psychedelic techno: a non-compromising approach, with an adventurous selection and impeccable mixing. One that brings the trippiness out of techno avoiding the cliches of the genre and that is undeniably Yamamori’s own vision and flavor: groovy but deep, atmospheric and hypnotic… but more importantly innovative and risky at the same time. All the ingredients you are used to, but resulting in a fresh, personal result. A selection including some of his own productions, some unreleased gems, and some “unknowns” for a dose of mystery. 

We are blessed to feature the Japanese producer and DJ with one of his rituals in our Continuum. A true master.
