The second installment of our podcast series is definitely a very special one. Last Amsterdam Dance Event we invited two of our all-time musical heroes to play a long back-2-back set. The result is 3 hours of pure bliss. We've now uploaded the full recording of the set for you to enjoy.

Gerd Janson is the influential label boss, journalist, DJ and producer behind the Running Back imprint an doesn't need any introduction nowadays. With a fine ear for unearthing new artists and developing them on his label, Gerd has a very busy schedule and puts out a dizzying amount of music from ambient to disco, house to techno. As a DJ, he has no identifiable style but is a master of many and is someone who can play to just about any crowd and make them move. As if that wasn't enough, as one half of Tuff City Kids he kicks out the club-ready jams that keep kids dancing. 

Back on New Year’s Eve 2015, he played back-to-back with Irishman Krystal Klear, who is at the heart of the modern house scene in his hometown Manchester. His fresh take on a classic sound has seen him win plenty of favour with the youth of the day, as well as getting him signed to Kerri Chandler’s MadTech label. Only active for six years, he has already become a regular on the global circuit and now heads up his own Cold Tonic label as well as hosting an influential show on Rinse FM. With a great sense of humour that always permeates his music, former Hoya: Hoya resident Krystal Klear has a passion for a wide range of sounds. 

Our latest mix is taken from the five hour b2b the pair played that NYE. As such it really found them stretching their legs and playing across the board. From slow disco to playful r&b grooves, 80s synths to classic house, it is a truly playful set that is chock full of jams, all carefully mixed into one explosive and loved-up whole.

The new episode is with an American talent hailing from Chicago now based in Berlin, Karl Meier. Just a few months back, his new label 'Standards & Practices' (co-founded with Jon Krohn) came to life with a head-chopping Talker EP --their first output since the full length on Downwards in 2014.

Velvet May is an italian and Berlin-based artist focusing on Electronic Body Music, post-punk and Techno textures. Owner of Tears On Waves imprint. His music is represented by aspects such as lust, erotism and pleasure and he does it in the stark drama of his living mind. There are no simplifications, everything is translated without polishings and shades, but with respect to his real essence.
Among his best known works we find those released on his own label "Tears on Waves" such as "Vast As Black Night", his best selling album "Unknown Bodies", whose homonymous track leaves a big mark and make his sound and textures better known, and his most recent "Phoebe's White Skin". After a break, he will soon release in October 2020 his fourth EP on his label in conjunction with the birth of some new romantic post-punk projects where we will see him in charge of the lyrics and voice.

"Chupacabras is an underground recording artist and dj. Originally from San Antonio, Texas, he also spent many years in Barcelona and New York. He currently resides in South London, UK.
Although he has been involved in electronic music for many years working as a dj, producer and promoting parties he remains under the radar. Having released only a handful of tracks on labels Basement Floor, Go Finger, Tutamen, Aperitif de la Mort, Analogue Texture and L.I.E.S.
He has always leaned towards a grittier side of music coming out of the Hague, Detroit, Chicago and New York especially. He plans on launching a new vinyl label in 2021 with some secret collaborations lined up. Also a few more tracks will trickle out on some new compilations before more solo EP's for next year."

In this mix he just wanted to put some denser and more hypnotic sounds together and play around with the frequencies a bit. Some of the material is quite new and some much older.
