The word Cleavage got a whole different meaning this year, when an Amsterdam producer-duo decided to name themselves exactly that. Their goal is to create music that everybody could go wild to, and so far they’ve pretty much nailed it. Incorporating dominating bass lines and sensual vocal hooks creates their very catchy and soulful house that has been heating up many an Amsterdam club for the last couple of months.

Our latest addition in the collab with SLAM! FM is an intense set by Jimpster and Gabriel Ananda during ADE 2014. In the Boom Room, Deep House Amsterdam will have recurring segments like the 'spotlight track' where we pick our favourite new track of the week and a bi-weekly mix that we will co-host with them, the latest of which is now online: Sidney Charles. 

Jamie Odell, aka Jimpster, has been producing, remixing and DJing for the last 20 years and co-running esteemed UK deep house label Freerange Records (voted Best British Label 2007 in DJ Mag) for the last 17 of them. Gabriel Ananda is known for breaking hearing-habbits, using well dosed deep structured sounds. Connoisseurs of the uncommon enjoy his straight and fiddly cool beats, ranging from techno to house and everything in between. But definitions really become useless when Techno, House and Dub merge together like in Gabriel Anandas productions.

Jay Shepheard is excellent.

The brains behind his Retrofit label, his distinct production style is always spot on and his DJ/live sets always meet the high expectations set forth by it. 

His ability to merge stripped back functionality and cosmic funk is like nobody else's in the game and this has been going on since 2007, when releases like 'Romance Gdansk' and 'Pipe N Sneakers' turned up for Compost's Black Label spin off. Since the Berlin-based Brit worked with the late Martin Dawson, released on Buzzin' Fly and put out defining 'Home & Garden' LP in 2013, while his sophomore album 'Seeing Sound' is a love letter to what he does best; proggy disco tech-house built for the dancefloor.

A master of mood and metronomic movement, he's mixed this week's podcast and it's everything you'd expect...

Lately i have been buying a lot of vinyl, going through my thousands of old vinyl digging out good old stuff and just nerding it big time.
I love that the vinyl market kinda has its own sound that doesn't trend with what's happening at the charts on Beatport, iTunes, Spotify and whatever.
I love that you can actually get a lot of stuff on vinyl that is not available in the digital market and therefore get a chance to play music you know that not many djs actually play or even know exists.
I had a Friday night off. No gigs and no family or friend affairs to attend to. Its been a long time since i had a Friday night home and it didn't take long before the itch to play music was too big and i had to do something about it......
So..... I decided to record this vinyl set of some of the vinyls i bought in 2015 so far. This set probably represents a deeper shade of Noir than you are use to from the clubs where i most of the time play prime-time sets. But.......
I honestly love this sound and this set represents the kind of vinyl i always end up buying for my own personal pleasure and collection rather than thinking it has to be new floor fillers for the clubs around the globe.
This is just good music..... so here you go...... That's how i spent my Friday night. Mixing just for myself on 2x Technics 1210's just like it all started many years ago...... Never forget where you come from... huh ?
I apologies for the short jingles. They are put in there. Its done to respect the labels and artists who puts a lot of work into manufacturing the vinyls in the dig-age.... to avoid ripping etc.

The best way to get to know your new vinyl is to put on the headphones and start mixing it. So.... as you guys reacted so well to the first vinyl set i uploaded i decided to record myself mixing and getting to know my latest addition of 12" to the collection.
Once again this goes a little deeper than what i normally play in the clubs but these are the new records that i really adore and well...... again an example of the vinyl-market having a unique sound of it's own.

Ryan Ellis and Lewis Wright are No Artificial Colours - two people who've established a distinct sound and maintained that since their debut back in 2011. Purveying their blend of seductive and anthemic house music on labels such as Madtech the duo have garnered ample support from titans like Jamie Jones. It was only when we listened to the new promo mix they delivered to us earlier this month that we truly heard how far the boys have progressed since they last played here in 2011. Taking on a darker tone and picking up the pace a little, their new material still very much exudes that peak time, club dynamic but its construction seems to be exceeding their previous efforts, with the guys already signing an RP to Skream’s Of Unsound Mind imprint.

Growing up with Belgium’s rich history in music, Lockwood, who were already passionate about music since they were little, would discover house, techno as well as jazz, funk at their local record store, becoming captivated by the sounds they heard.

In love with the darkness and melancholia you find in electronic music, Lockwood decided that they wanted to be more than just a listener, so they wasted no time in establishing themselves as a serious studio talent. Making music really gave Lockwood a chance to fuse all of what they loved about music and still express themselves in doing so.

By releasing in 2013 on MLC and Canary Recordings they earned the respect from the underground scene where they call home. This led to the birth of their debut-ep called ‘Let’s Talk’ that Steve Bug unearthed and brought to the attention of the world. With ‘Let’s Talk’ having enjoyed its full release via Dessous and further EP’s already in the pipeline, it looks like the future for Lockwood is quite bright.

Music helps to set life's mood.  How did I get here??? Well its been quite a journey. You see I love it all, from 70's soul, 80's funk, alternative. Quality music is my passion. Early 80's hip-hop and the Bay Area rave scene in the 90's shaped my DJ persona.  

For 20 + years House has run deep in my blood and in that same time Techno has become my sultry mistress.  You could say I love all things electronic and that encompasses a lot of different sounds. Everything from hip-hop, house, tech-house, techno, down-tempo,  and drum n bass.  Nothing Pop though and sorry NO EDM. 

I really love things that are Underground. Yeah Underground Dance Music is what I play. I love music that makes you dance and I love sharing new sounds. I especially  love the art of DJ mixing and specifically those who create a journey and a story with music. I hope to dance and groove as long as my soul feels it and my body allows. 

Well my my Soundcloud page, is now revamped and ready to  expose  beautiful, deep,techy, groovy, and some times hard hitting sounds!!!! I will keep it varied but always real. Please enjoy what you hear (feedback appreciated)!!!!!
