By 1997 I had heard of Kirk Franklin and I enjoyed some of his music. But it was his album "God's Property" and really the song "Stomp" that made me stop and really pay attention. The 90's was a huge time for Hip-Hop at least for me and Stomp gave me that 'Bump' that I needed at the time. It subsequently made me go back and purchase all three of Kirk's earlier projects. Well, this particular song "Love" was tucked away in this album and it has always been a favorite of mine. I just love the sentiment and the thought of God's unwavering love for us. There's a part near the end of the song when the choir simply sings "Ooooooo" and I tell you, I can just feel it right at that moment. I hope you guys Enjoy...

Yasiin Bey formally known as Mos Def released this amazing song "Umi Says" almost 25 years ago on his debut album Black on Both Sides. This song is still so very smooth and it creates such an incredible vibe every time its played, as well as having such a positive meaning. It's still an all time personal favorite of mine. Hopefully we will hear this "Sage" version bumping on somebody's dance floor sooner than later... Enjoy!!!

By 1985 I was very familiar with the brilliant singer, songwriter, composer Mr. Luther Vandross and he slowly but surely, song by song simply turning into "Luther!" (One Name) This beautiful song was released on his second solo album "Forever, For Always, For Love" in 1982 but I always paired his voice in my mind to the dance floor. maybe it was his early songs "Searching" and "The Glow of Love" with the group Change (1980). Never the less Luther was here to stay... Enjoy!!!

I was thinking about the time I first heard the name Luther Vandross. It was probably 1981 or so, although I would later find out that Luther had begun his musical career in the 1970's, providing backup vocals for any and everyone. My Mother had lots of records that I would later discover LV sang backup on. But it was an album by the group "Change" that I bought in the early 80's when I first fell in love with DJing, when I flipped over the record and read that Mr. Vandross was the lead singer on my two favorite songs in this now Disco Classic album: "Searching" and my favorite "The Glow of Love" which will be featured in this mix. This set features some of Luther's biggest hits as well as some of his lesser known songs but it's going to be fun. I'm not really sure what's been bringing me back to this Luther vibe that I've been feeling lately but I'm really diggin' it... Enjoy!!!

In the early 1980's Lionel Richie left one of my all time childhood groups The Commodores to pursue a solo career in music and boy did it pay off. Lionel was super talented and had a golden voice so his success wasn't a surprise but I don't think anyone knew just how big he would become. "Love Will Find a Way" is one of my favorites by him, written by Greg Phillingaines  who's one of the most talented background musicians ever in my humble opinion. This tune is just so well written and so very smooth... Enjoy!!!

We've all heard the saying "There's No Place Like Home!" well that adage was definitely in effect on my last visit to Detroit in June. I was invited to play this incredible event called "D-Fest" which featured some of the city's best DJ's. For me it was really cool for me seeing and hearing all of the young DJ's, they played with so much energy. It really made me really proud to be from Detroit. Although my Mom now lives down south so I don't get home as much as I would like but when I do get there it's pure magic. I was surrounded by lifelong friends and even had one of my buddies: Carl Floyd fly in from California just in time for my set. (Wow) I hadn't seen Carl in person in years, it was such a cool gesture. He even snapped this amazing cover photo. I told you, Detroit is magical. This mix was inspired by that amazing visit... 2025 just flew by in my opinion. It has been a great year, especially in music but it just went so very fast. I guess that's just a sign of getting older too. (LOL) Time is just so precious these days! I want to Thank You all of guys so much for always following and supporting me and and more importantly for supporting this music we love so much called "House!" Unfortunately I didn't get to check all of my musical boxes this year but I still was able to work on and learn a lot of new things. I produced more edits than I have ever done and that's been so much fun. (2 featured in this mix) In 2026 God willing I'm diving back into that vinyl world again bringing back my "Vinyl Sessions" series. Yes, it was March 16th, 1993 (I will never Forget it) That Night I witnessed The Best Concert Performance I've Ever Seen! It was at The World Famous Fox Theater in Detroit and featured none other than The Great: Ms. Sade Adu! It was The "Love Deluxe" Tour and featured her always Tight Band: "Sade" which featured their incredibly talented band leader Stuart Mathewman (Sweetback). I have Loved this group since I first heard "Why Can't We Live Together" blasting on a lonely Detroit Street corner one late summer night in the mid 80s. But This Concert took me to another Level of Fan! When Sade sang "Haunt Me," "Pearls" "Cherry Pie" and "Like A Tattoo" Wooooo... I was in Complete Musical Heaven. I Always knew one day I would try to capture Sade's Essence with a "House Mix" but was never really sure about which Tunes to Play? Well, I think I've come up with a pretty good Playlist featuring some Incredible Remixes, B-Sides and Groovy Edits. I Hope this Mix will do "Team Sade" a tad bit of The Musical Justice they so rightfully Deserve! (Enjoy)

I still remember the first time I stumbled on that first Jamiroquai CD. The year was 1993 and I walked by that Disc many times while shopping for 12 inch House Cuts at Record Time Music Store, right outside of Detroit. This day however, I remember picking up the CD "Emergency on Planet Earth" and being struck by the title and the cover, which was plain Black & White, but I could see through the side of the jewel case and see they had major Color and some Cool Art work on the inside. (I was intrigued) Mind you I still hadn't heard One Note from the album! :-) Well I took a chance that day and I was so glad I did. Jamiroquai's sound was so Jazzy Funky and just different. I was hooked...
My favorite tune on that first album: "Too Young To Die" leads off this Mix and "Lifeline" from their last official release: "Rock Dust Light Star" concludes the set. I'm really proud to have Remixes from all Seven albums represented on this playlist with; "Supersonic", "Cosmic Girl" and "Space Cowboy" leading the way. And I'm also proud to feature The Groups many different styles: Funk, Acid Jazz, Downtempto, R&B, and of course House! When the super smooth voice of Mr. Lou Rawls teamed up with song writing royalty "Gamble & Huff" in 1976 to create Lou's biggest hit "You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine" the rest as they say is musical history. Although I'm happy I was even around to jam to this Banger, I really wish I was old enough to hear this blasting through the speakers at Studio 54 or some cool club at the time... :-) Many great DJ's have featured different versions of this disco smash, but I just wanted to add my flavor to the musical pot. This incredible song starts off with: "Can't understand why we treat each other in this way, taking up time with the silly silly games we play, we've got our love and no matter how its said or done, We Are One!" (Whew)  I have always been drawn to this amazing song from Soul Legends: Frankie Beverly and his super talented group Maze. This is the title track from their 1983 now classic album and as per usual I just wanted to play this on The Dance Floors all around the globe... Enjoy!!!  :-)

Wow, what can I say about this song. "I Can't Help it" was on an album I probably played more than any other piece of vinyl in my life. Every morning in 1979 I would play MJ's "Off The Wall" every morning before school. I mean Mike, Quincy Jones, Stevie Wonder, Rod Temperton and a host of other top musicians flanked this now classic LP. This song was actually written by Stevie and is so silky smooth, some of Michael's best work in my opinion. You know me, I just wanted to add just a little touch so I can play this on the dance floor! Please Enjoy...  \o/

I haven't really heard Will Downing's incredible voice on the Dance Floor since the late 80's early 90's with his upbeat take on John Coltrane's "A Love Supreme" remixed by the legendary Arthur Baker. So when I heard Will's version of "Nights Over Egypt" one of my all time favorite tunes written by the jazzy Dexter Wansel and performed by (Detroit's own) The Jones Girls, I knew I had to put my DJ twist on it and get this song ready for the House Music Dance Floors in 2018 and beyond... I sincerely hope you guys enjoy The Edit! \o/

It is very rare that a change my radio dial from my usual Public Radio Station "WDNA" here in Miami. But a few weeks ago I did just that and flipped to legendary Miami Disc Jockey, Mr. Freddie Cruz and he was playing this amazing tune on his silky smooth radio show. I heard a few bars and quickly grabbed my phone to Shazam the track. I knew it was Toni Braxton's beautiful voice but I wasn't sure if it was old or new. I was able to capture it and I ran in the house, bought it immediately and began to work. This melody in the hook is just so sweet to my ears, I just wanted to be able to play in on the Dance Floor! (Enjoy)

Wow, what more can be said about legendary soul crooner Teddy Pendergrass aka "Teddy P?" Teddy's incredible voice was so strong and smooth at the same time that he nearly owned the R&B charts in the mid to late seventies. I remember being a youngster growing up in Detroit and hearing his incredible songs all over the radio both day and night. "Come Go With Me" (1979)written by the incomparable song writing and production duo "Gamble & Huff" is probably my favorite Teddy tune. I heard the song the other day in my car and a musical "Light Bulb" lit up in my head. I wanted to hear this masterpiece on The Dance Floor! I hope you guys Enjoy It!!!

I realized the other day that I haven't done an all "Gospel House" set in two years (Wow). I figured if there was ever a time for me to put together an uplifting Gospel set now would definitely be the time. If we can't agree on anything else, I'm sure we all can agree that 2020 has been a challenging year that we will never forget, a year for the ages. I know for me I've leaned on my music this year more than ever before. Music has lifted me when I was feeling down and given me a safe space where I could think, laugh, cry, praise, dance and just put my head back and raise my hands and totally be Free! Hopefully "Sunday Morning" will help do that for you. Wow 2020 has definitely been a year for the ages, a year that none of us will ever forget. This year has been filled with anxiety and lots of uncertainty but if you're like me you leaned on your music now more than ever. We had to shut off the TV for a while, push back the newspapers and all of the crazy news articles and just drift off into that magical place that only music can take us. Music was with us in the car, on our runs in the park and even when we danced in our living rooms with our loved ones or even just dancing by ourselves. We knew it before but 2020 helped confirm that music truly is "Medicine." This is my last recorded set for this year and I just wanted to thank you guys from the bottom of my heart for all of your kind words of encouragement, thanks for sharing the mixes with your friends and thank you so much for all of your generous contributions (Via My Ca$h app below). Music Is Medicine

It was 1980 in Detroit Michigan where I first fell in Love with this Music. I was 13 years old and the Music of Choice for Me and my Friends was Progressive Dance Music. We didn't know it at the time but We were actually creating a Musical Lifestyle of sorts that would follow many of us the rest of our lives.

Sure there would be periods when no music was bought and no new mixes were produced, but time would go by and before you knew it This Music Thing would just Grab hold to Me again...

In 2012 My Musical Journey started again! This dance music would prompt me to start mixing on the web via my YouTube Channel with over 45K followers, and Soundcloud with over 5K and counting... This music would even take me around the U.S and as far away as Beijing China to DJ (Twice). I'm  really excited now more than ever because I am are currently living in Miami and DJing at my residency at N'Namdi Contemporary Gallery.
