Being a young "Music Head" growing up in Detroit in the 1980's, my favorite DJ like so many of my peers was The Electrifying Mojo aka "Mojo." I always credit Mojo for my love for so many different types of music: From The B52's to Eddie Grant, from Genesis to Parliament Funkadelic just to name a few.  But Mojo's biggest flex back then was not only breaking Prince but playing the B-sides and all of the Prince tunes that radio stations weren't and didn't have the freedom to play. Mojo might play an entire side of the "Dirty Mind" album and then run it right back. (LOL) Mojo was just different. That being said, I became a huge Prince fan and whenever the purple one was in town, which was quite often in the beginning, me and my crew were always front and center... This Set is just a homage to one of my all time favorite musical artists. Definitely one of the G.O.A.T's. Enjoy...

We've all heard the saying a million times "There's no place like Home" and while that is absolutely  true, I would also like to add the term "There's No Place Like The Dance Floor!" This four hour set was inspired to my latest visit to my hometown of Detroit. I got a chance to play 3 different gigs in a weeks span and see so many friends some I haven't seen in years, all on the dance floor. We laughed  and hugged and reminisced while listening to our beloved House Music! Ahhh, what a time we had. I got a chance to play many of these songs, so I tried to recreate this mix with a more animated and "Live" feeling. Longer transitions and a few more "tricks" with the box. As always I added a few of my favorites as well as a few newbies. I hope you guys enjoy the music...

I was driving around Miami one evening this summer and heard this silky smooth voice on the radio, at first I thought it was a long lost B-side of an old Marvin Gaye song. Later I found out is was "Back to Your Place" by a young new artist: October London, I was completely blown away. I immediately grabbed his album and it's been on repeat ever since. Whew, "Make Me Wanna" is so smooth and just flat out cool and ready for a sophisticated "Soulful House" dance floor. Enjoy!!!

I was visiting my Mother over the holidays and stumbled upon another old picture from my early childhood. If you have ever listened to any of my earlier Gospel House sets you've heard me mention my maternal Grandmother. Well here's a pic of us about to board my very first flight to head down south from Detroit to visit her siblings in TN when I was maybe 2 years old. The Essential House Mix Show (18th October 2014)

It was 1980 in Detroit Michigan where I first fell in Love with this Music. I was 13 years old and the Music of Choice for Me and my Friends was Progressive Dance Music. We didn't know it at the time but We were actually creating a Musical Lifestyle of sorts that would follow many of us the rest of our lives.

Sure there would be periods when no music was bought and no new mixes were produced, but time would go by and before you knew it This Music Thing would just Grab hold to Me again...

In 2012 My Musical Journey started again! This dance music would prompt me to start mixing on the web via my YouTube Channel with over 45K followers, and Soundcloud with over 5K and counting... This music would even take me around the U.S and as far away as Beijing China to DJ (Twice). I'm  really excited now more than ever because I am are currently living in Miami and DJing at my residency at N'Namdi Contemporary Gallery.
