I was staying down on South Beach (Miami) during "THME" weekend a couple of weeks ago and woke up that Saturday at the crack of dawn like I always do. I decided to go for an early morning walk on the beach and I snapped this incredible view of the sunrise. (I don't care what we might have going on in our lives, God always has a way of showing up and showing out with some Amazing wonders). Immediately I thought about a mix I did way back in 2012. I looked for it on YouTube and I don't think I was posting on here yet? Definitely not on the regular. I looked on Soundcloud and it was my first ever mix on that platform. I specifically wanted to hear "Cascades of Colour" by Ananda Project on my walk. (Woo, what a mood shifter) I was just going to post the original 'Sunrise' but I said Hey: "A new Sunrise deserves a new batch of tunes!" Except for "Cascades of Colour" I had to throw that one back on here just to set the table... Enjoy!!!  \o/

I mean there are some songs in this set that are so very near and dear to my heart and the vibe I tried to create is totally positive and uplifting. One of my favorite young inspirational singers, Aaron K. Gray leads us off with his brand new gem: "Celebrate Your Life." Then the super talented, Angel-A and Russoul remind us to always live our best lives with their banger: "Your Best Life." I probably never told you guys how much of a "Museum Junkie" I am. I absolutely love venturing down to different Museums and smaller Art Galleries around town and of course when I'm somewhere visiting. This set was totally inspired by my latest visits to the High Museum in Atlanta and The Pérez Art Museum right here in Miami where I snapped this photo of Glenn Ligon's artistic "Notes of a Poem on The Third World" (Electric Hands). It seems whenever I'm viewing the exhibits I always "hear" certain songs or beats that I would love to pair with those particular pieces of art. It's been nearly a year since my last "Vinyl Sessions" mix. Although I didn't get a chance to make it out to Record Store Day here in Miami the other day, I was able to play some vinyl records in the lab and I totally got inspired. The thing I like most about playing vinyl is that it's just so much fun and so very organic. Even with all of the cracks, the skips and the pops and all and don't mention the higher cost of vinyl and then trying to record video. (LOL) So many moving parts but I wouldn't give it up for anything. And to top it off you guys really seem to like seeing and hearing the "VS" sets and seeing how they are put together. It's truly a labor of love! Enjoy...

Vinyl Sessions Vol.18

It was 1980 in Detroit Michigan where I first fell in Love with this Music. I was 13 years old and the Music of Choice for Me and my Friends was Progressive Dance Music. We didn't know it at the time but We were actually creating a Musical Lifestyle of sorts that would follow many of us the rest of our lives.

Sure there would be periods when no music was bought and no new mixes were produced, but time would go by and before you knew it This Music Thing would just Grab hold to Me again...

In 2012 My Musical Journey started again! This dance music would prompt me to start mixing on the web via my YouTube Channel with over 45K followers, and Soundcloud with over 5K and counting... This music would even take me around the U.S and as far away as Beijing China to DJ (Twice). I'm  really excited now more than ever because I am are currently living in Miami and DJing at my residency at N'Namdi Contemporary Gallery.
