If you weren't around in the late 70's and early 80's, it's really hard to describe just how big Teddy Pendergrass aka "Teddy" was back then. He had gone solo a few years before releasing the "Teddy album" which is one of my personal favorites of his. He had smash hits like "Come Go With Me" (Which I mixed a few years ago) and maybe his biggest song "Turn Off The Lights." But this song "If You Know" wasn't quite. as popular but its always been another absolute favorite of mine. Enjoy...

The year was 1997 and this amazing album called the "Buena Vista Social Club" by a collective of incredible Cuban musicians going by the same name. The sound was so very different for me but I loved the music from the very first time I heard them in about 2002 in a "Barnes & Noble" listening station (Remember those) back when I lived in Atlanta. I would end up moving to Miami some years later and getting much deeper into that Afro-Cuban sound, and I totally love that sound and vibe to this very day. This edit was done in the spirit of the upcoming Miami Music Week festival taking place here next week... Enjoy!!!

In the early 1980's Lionel Richie left one of my all time childhood groups The Commodores to pursue a solo career in music and boy did it pay off. Lionel was super talented and had a golden voice so his success wasn't a surprise but I don't think anyone knew just how big he would become. "Love Will Find a Way" is one of my favorites by him, written by Greg Phillingaines  who's one of the most talented background musicians ever in my humble opinion. This tune is just so well written and so very smooth... Enjoy!!!

Love Will Find a Way (Spivey's 4am ReWork)

It was 1980 in Detroit Michigan where I first fell in Love with this Music. I was 13 years old and the Music of Choice for Me and my Friends was Progressive Dance Music. We didn't know it at the time but We were actually creating a Musical Lifestyle of sorts that would follow many of us the rest of our lives.

Sure there would be periods when no music was bought and no new mixes were produced, but time would go by and before you knew it This Music Thing would just Grab hold to Me again...

In 2012 My Musical Journey started again! This dance music would prompt me to start mixing on the web via my YouTube Channel with over 45K followers, and Soundcloud with over 5K and counting... This music would even take me around the U.S and as far away as Beijing China to DJ (Twice). I'm  really excited now more than ever because I am are currently living in Miami and DJing at my residency at N'Namdi Contemporary Gallery.
