I've been playing  lots of Ron Trent's tunes in my recent Mixes and a few people asked me if I would make a set featuring his incredible music. Ron makes songs that tell musical stories, his beats totally make you throw your hands up, dance, and close your eyes and totally drift away... Most of Trent's gems are at least ten minutes or more and to be honest their still not long enough in my opinion.  I hope you guys enjoy this Deep and Soulful tribute to one of the great House Music DJ / Producers of our time!!!

In Loving Memory of Philip Grahame Asher [1966 - 2021]

On Friday 22nd January 2021 our lovely friend Phil Asher suddenly passed away leaving his family, friends and the global dance music community mourning the loss of one of life’s unsung heroes and real good guys.

Without Phil Asher or PHLASH there would be no Reel People. Like so many artists and acts that came from London’s soulful dance scene in the early 2000s he was the LINK that made it all happen. He introduced all 3 of us and like all others we followed him in awe of his passion for music and love for his community and life.

Phil was an MPC beating, dancefloor destroying, hands in the air making, cup of tea and yum yum eating man like no other. Words can’t begin to describe just how infectious his laugh was and how warm his hugs were.

We are so grateful that Brian, Sheldon and all the guys at Traxsource have helped us to put this tribute page to Phil live on the site. Thanks also to all the friends of Phlash who have supported with charts and to Spinna for such a wonderful dj mix. For those who don’t know about Phil’s musical legacy, please take time to delve into this page and discover incredible joints and jams. For those who do know about Phil, we hope you find some hidden gems from this restless soul.

Phil was incredibly proud of his amazing son Marvin who has followed in his dad’s footsteps into music production under the aliases NGC and the Xutians. With this in mind his close friends have set up The Marvin Jupiter Asher fund to help Marvin continue his dream and continue the Asher legacy. Phil’s family & friends respectfully request that anyone who wishes to honour PHLASH is invited to make a contribution to the fund.

Tribute Mix to Phil Asher aka PHLASH by DJ Spinna

It was 1980 in Detroit Michigan where I first fell in Love with this Music. I was 13 years old and the Music of Choice for Me and my Friends was Progressive Dance Music. We didn't know it at the time but We were actually creating a Musical Lifestyle of sorts that would follow many of us the rest of our lives.

Sure there would be periods when no music was bought and no new mixes were produced, but time would go by and before you knew it This Music Thing would just Grab hold to Me again...

In 2012 My Musical Journey started again! This dance music would prompt me to start mixing on the web via my YouTube Channel with over 45K followers, and Soundcloud with over 5K and counting... This music would even take me around the U.S and as far away as Beijing China to DJ (Twice). I'm  really excited now more than ever because I am are currently living in Miami and DJing at my residency at N'Namdi Contemporary Gallery.
