It was a little over four years ago when I was all about playing that Afro-House sound. South African  Producers like the great Black Coffee, DJ Kent, Black Motion and Culoe De Song and many others of course had plenty to do with that. Although I've played that Afro style in almost all of my mixes and I have done featured sets: "Joburg," "A Trip to Capetown," "Journey to South Africa," and probably my most popular SA influence to date: "Black Coffee (The Tribute Mix)." This Mix was totally inspired by last weekend's Summer Oasis Festival held in Idlewild Michigan. The annual festival is a House Music extravaganza and so much more. DJ's, artists, producers, writers, dancers and tastemaker's all camp out together throughout the weekend exchanging positive vibes and creative energy! I played a 90 minute Set on Saturday and to be honest towards the end I totally forgot what I played (LOL) but some of the songs are featured here along with a few now one's: Agel-A who's song "Freedom & Fire" which she performed 'All The Way Live' at the event is featured, along with brand new bangers from DJ headliners: Jihad Muhammad and Vick Lavender. Summer Oasis

Over the last year I've been upgrading several components of my DJ studio at home, including adding capacity to record longer mixes.  I'm still tweaking and tinkering with things, but it's nice to be free from the confines of the 80-minute CD mix.  Hope you dig this new 2-hour journey.  AK

It was 1980 in Detroit Michigan where I first fell in Love with this Music. I was 13 years old and the Music of Choice for Me and my Friends was Progressive Dance Music. We didn't know it at the time but We were actually creating a Musical Lifestyle of sorts that would follow many of us the rest of our lives.

Sure there would be periods when no music was bought and no new mixes were produced, but time would go by and before you knew it This Music Thing would just Grab hold to Me again...

In 2012 My Musical Journey started again! This dance music would prompt me to start mixing on the web via my YouTube Channel with over 45K followers, and Soundcloud with over 5K and counting... This music would even take me around the U.S and as far away as Beijing China to DJ (Twice). I'm  really excited now more than ever because I am are currently living in Miami and DJing at my residency at N'Namdi Contemporary Gallery.
