You guys should have seen my face when I cleaned out my old storage unit in Atlanta and found these old mixes. Unfortunately I'm not the most organized and I am really not a saver but for some strange reason I saved a few of these sets that I put on CD between 2002 and 2005. There were a few CD-J decks floating around back then but I didn't know anyone that had one yet, all the DJ's I knew were still using vinyl but you could tell a change was coming fast. Record stores started closing left and right and it was really sad but a few of us kept on playing that Wax! This set is from 2002, I was 35 with a head full of hair (Ha-Ha) "Locs" to be exact. My playing style was very fast meaning I didn't really let the songs breathe, I played 21 tunes in this set but most of the mixes back then I was squeezing 28 songs into an 80 minute CD (LOL). My style has changed over the years but I'm still having a blast and still totally in love with The Music!!! (Enjoy)

Here is another Mix that I found a couple of moths ago in my Atlanta storage unit. This one is from 2003 and I think my style was becoming a little bit more Soulful? I was living in Atlanta at the time and I was living downtown really close to my job, and I remember that I couldn't wait to get home after to work everyday to jump on those turntables set up in my room. I still was playing the records a little fast and hard; I mean I jammed in 23 tunes on this nearly 80 minute set. This was before any online music hosting sites, so the mix had to fit nicely on a good old fashion CD. You guys remember those? (LOL) Good Times indeed! I appreciate you guys going down memory lane with this "Recovered" series and of course I hope you enjoy The Music!!! Let's Go...

Making mixes like this are a huge reason why after over 40 years I still do this DJ thing. I mean there are some songs in this set that are so very near and dear to my heart and the vibe I tried to create is totally positive and uplifting. One of my favorite young inspirational singers, Aaron K. Gray leads us off with his brand new gem: "Celebrate Your Life." Then the super talented, Angel-A and Russoul remind us to always live our best lives with their banger: "Your Best Life." I probably never told you guys how much of a "Museum Junkie" I am. I absolutely love venturing down to different Museums and smaller Art Galleries around town and of course when I'm somewhere visiting. This set was totally inspired by my latest visits to the High Museum in Atlanta and The Pérez Art Museum right here in Miami where I snapped this photo of Glenn Ligon's artistic "Notes of a Poem on The Third World" (Electric Hands). It seems whenever I'm viewing the exhibits I always "hear" certain songs or beats that I would love to pair with those particular pieces of art. This mix features a few of those tunes that just immediately popped into my head: "Jazz Funk Freedom" by Ron Trent, "Coltrane" by Marc Tilley and "Track 9" by Atjazz were some. It's been nearly a year since my last "Vinyl Sessions" mix. Although I didn't get a chance to make it out to Record Store Day here in Miami the other day, I was able to play some vinyl records in the lab and I totally got inspired. The thing I like most about playing vinyl is that it's just so much fun and so very organic. Even with all of the cracks, the skips and the pops and all and don't mention the higher cost of vinyl and then trying to record video. (LOL) So many moving parts but I wouldn't give it up for anything. And to top it off you guys really seem to like seeing and hearing the "VS" sets and seeing how they are put together. It was 1980 in Detroit Michigan where I first fell in Love with this Music. I was 13 years old and the Music of Choice for Me and my Friends was Progressive Dance Music. We didn't know it at the time but We were actually creating a Musical Lifestyle of sorts that would follow many of us the rest of our lives.

Sure there would be periods when no music was bought and no new mixes were produced, but time would go by and before you knew it This Music Thing would just Grab hold to Me again...

In 2012 My Musical Journey started again! This dance music would prompt me to start mixing on the web via my YouTube Channel with over 45K followers, and Soundcloud with over 5K and counting... This music would even take me around the U.S and as far away as Beijing China to DJ (Twice). I'm  really excited now more than ever because I am are currently living in Miami and DJing at my residency at N'Namdi Contemporary Gallery.
