Jazz Waltz

Originally released as my first single on 14th November 2023, Collagen Peptides is the introduction to the album. I was originally inspired by the band Duster when I decided to start making my own music, my plan was to make more low fidelity, chill songs with none or subtle vocals as singing and writing lyrics was always the hardest part of making songs for me.

The name of the song just comes from the supplement Collagen and how one of the main reason people who decide to take it is because they are not happy with the way they look. Better skin, hair, antiaging, build muscle ect.

This is the only song on the album that had live drums recorded by myself. My drum kit was set up in my garage and was recorded with two overhead microphones and a bass drum mic. However only having a two input audio interface at the time i had to either record the bass drum seperatly or add them in later manually. This was always a pain and so I found ways to avoid doing this on later songs.

My Les Paul was used for the rhythm guitars with the shimmer setting on my reverb pedal as well as the OCD later in the song to give the shimmer a bigger sound towards the end. My stratocaster was used for the lead and features my favourite solo i've ever wrote which goes across the whole song.

The bass guitar in the original recording was slightly out of tune and had to be rerecorded for the album. Which wasn't fun.

Although instrumental if you listen closely at 1:18 and 1:27 you can here two vocal tracks where I hum the lead guitar line 'da da du du'.

Collagen Peptides

This year a little more tongue in cheek and a little insight into a real Christmas especially mine.
Why can’t it be like the films and ads is just a chorus lyric but Christmas never is like the films and ads. 
We know how it goes but love it anyway and when it rolls up we are ready to take it on again.

*Update: since some of you have been asking us privately who’s singing, let’s clear it up. Tom sings the entire song, going from baritone to tenor (maybe even soprano 😓) throughout the track, and not just in this song! 😂 Mary did some backing vocals, but all the main parts are Tom. 🤟

📣Here we are again with an unexpected upload, born from some random experiments that turned out way too good to be thrown in the trash… the Mac trash, obviously 😅
Headlines is inspired by a chiptune melody that likely dates back to the early 90s, at least as far as our keyboard player remembers, though even that isn’t completely certain. The track comes from the demoscene era, but the original title and author are unknown to us and may have been lost over time, so proper credit isn’t possible.
No samples were used. The melody was replayed, rearranged and completely reworked into a new song with a modern production and original vocals.
Too good to be left in a drawer, so here it is.
And stay tuned… in a few days we’ll be back with our new (and last) Christmas song, along with a very fun video where we’ll turn into Santa’s elves! 🎄🧝‍♂️🧝‍♀️
