JAMES COMPTON, The Beat Alchemist™

Denver-based DJ James Compton discovered his passion for music at the age of 13 in the heart of Nashville.  Immersing himself in the art of DJing, he learned to spin using well-worn records on vinyl turntables.  His skills were honed as a turntablist in the underground music scene as he performed at house parties and rap battles, cultivating his unconventional, genre-blending style.

By high school graduation, James was touring with a Nashville-based Hip Hop collective, curating dynamic sets that energized crowds.  After stepping away for a time to focus on academic pursuits, a transformative journey to Ibiza reignited his passion for music, inspiring his return to the decks with a renewed artistic vision and an evolved approach.

Drawing major influence from the pioneering electronic music producers of the late ‘80s and early '90s, James seamlessly blends Synthwave, Deep Tech House, and Melodic Techno to create an immersive auditory experience.  His ability to meticulously layer elements of Bass House, Indie Dance, and other unique sonic textures allows him to transform any venue into a captivating and euphoric atmosphere. 

Whether it’s an intimate club set or an outdoor festival under the stars, James Compton delivers an extraordinary experience—not just a performance.  Expect deep grooves, hypnotic beats, and a voyage through a mesmerizing soundscape that resonates long after the night fades.

With over 25 years of experience, and due to his exposure of genres ranging from House to Trance, Breaks to Glitch Hop and Drum ‘N Bass to Old School Techno, DJ Twister possesses the ability to mix unique, multi-genre sets that showcase the true definition of a disc jockey.
 
Twister has played alongside many legendary artists including Donald Glaude, Darude, Binary Hertz, Scott Sentinelz, Slenderman and Tom Foolery. He has also been featured on the radio from the San Francisco Bay Area’s KCRH to Seattle’s 107.7 The End.
 
Twister is part of the management team at True North Radio where he also hosts the monthly progressive house show, Digital DezHertz. He is also signed to Visceral Records and manages their sub-label Visceral Soul. 
 
Twister currently resides in Phoenix, Arizona.
