Exclusive: Priorat - Transgènic (Marc Piñol Remix)

Barcelona-based imprint Vondreib Records readies the long overdue second release, Transonàmbul,  from Catalan producer and Hivern Discs regular Priorat. The four tracker is provided with two original takes, namely Sonàmbul and Transgènic, coming with a remix for each take. While  Sonàmbul is taken care of by Velmonda, it's Hivern Discs mainstay Marc Piñol who gets his hands on the already dance floor oriented Transgènic and – without being too anticipatory – delivers a remix that is so subtle charming its listeners that one would not realize how deeply you are soaked into Piñol's continuous psychedelic musical cosmos until the track lets go. With Acid-ish bleeps taking the lead and intriguing pan-flute like synths as well as 'water dropping from the stalagmites of a limestone cave'-sounds all alternating throughout the track, Transgènic's organic and natural vibe flatters the dark dance floor in the most humble yet decently sophisticated manner and let's you imagine yourself moving to the bass line in the spheres of cosmic grandeur with closed eyes. 

Priorat's EP Transonàmbul will be released on Vondreib Records on July 13th, 2020.

Exclusive: Ivan Fabra - Pluck (Gerd Janson Remix)

Running Back head honcho Gerd Janson took on remix duties for Barcelona-based artist Ivan Fabra's tune Pluck, which marks the debut for the Iberian on Prins Thomas' Internasjonal label. With Gerd and Ivan joining the label 's latest release the Norwegian continues his imprint's international musical orientation yet remains true to its philosophy, namely that of delivering Disco-ish influenced tracks. Ivan  Fabra's four tracker comes altogether with two orginals, Pluck and Take A Break, and two remixes, one for each track. While Prins Thomas reworked Take A Break, Gerd Janson sprinkled his Running Back magic on Pluck and delivers a typical disco-esque magnific track that comes with a rather lush and forwad going bass line combined with right- and left channel alternating cosmic vocals that replace a tone in the higher frequencies and are then exchanged with a sound in the same tonal pitch. The disco-ish seeming synth-chords, partly consisting of single and multiple sequences not only add a change within the track but also keep the audience moving as it plucks or rather strikes the tune's musical diversity with ease.

Exclusive: Iron Curtis - Everything's Alright

After a collaborative album with Johannes Albert on Frank Music, an original track on Uncanny Valley and a remix for Omar Santis on Phonica's sublabel Karakul Iron Curtis is back with some further original material on Manchester-based label Hudd Traxx. But the Berliner does not only ready one EP but two, which go by the name of Total Art Of Living Part 1 & 2. Altogether Iron Curtis provides ten tracks with his signature sound reflecting his preference for (deep) House Music. The A1 and opening track of the first part Everything's Alright contains everything, that makes the music, the genre, House Music inescapable. Various deep and partly hypnotic synths snuggle up against each other, leave space for solo piano chords and are driven by a 808 influenced bass line with few vocals-snippets, which altogether turn the tune to an in instant (dancefloor) classic. Again Iron Curtis delivers music that outlives the present but could be made at any point in modern times, yet has the gift of sounding always relevant.

Iron Curtis' Total Art Of Living - Part 1 will be released on Hudd Traxx on September 23rd.

The release began to shape during last spring, as Jepe was roaming between enjoying sunsets on Kreuzberg’s Admiralbrücke and the white sandy beach of his hometown, Aveiro. In today’s electronic music world there are not many artists who can lay claim to a legacy like that of DJ T. Born in Dusseldorf, DJ T. (aka Thomas Koch,) re-located to Frankfurt with his family in the late 70s. During his formative years, he fell for the hypnotic grooves of disco, inspired by his parents’ record collec-tion. At the age of nine he was already completely enraptured by music and that love affair continues until this very day. He began an obsessive quest to collect music, feeding his soul with everything from Disco and Hi-Nrg, through to early Hip-Hop and Electro, Soul, Funk and R’n’B. The groovy, infectious rhythms of all those genres continue to permeate into the music he makes and plays today, providing an intrinsic part of his sound ethic. 
He took up breakdancing, before becoming a DJ, playing at private parties ini-tially before landing his first professional gigs in the late eighties. This period proved to be a pivotal moment in his life as Acid House swept through Europe, landing in Frankfurt and taking over with the launch of Sven Väth’s legendary Omen club in 1988. The first wave of House and Techno took hold and T. was there at the forefront, absorbing all the fresh new sounds from Chicago, Detroit and the UK. He picked up a residency at the infamous Music Hall and held resi-dencies at countless clubs across the city during the next 10 years from Plastik and Dorian Gray to The Box. By the end of the nineties, he was one of Frank-furt’s best-known selectors. 
In 1989 DJ T. tapped into another side of his creative energy to set up Groove Magazine. Identifying a gap in the market and fuelled by a need to satisfy his own desire for specialised music journalism, which focused on his interests – namely underground dance music. Under his leadership the magazine was launched into the public’s consciousness and he guided Groove to become one of Europe’s premier dance music publications, which it still is today. 
DJ T.’s progression continued at a pace, as he launched his own club, Monza, using the experience gained through a decade of club events and tours under the Groove Magazine banner. He also invested his skills and knowledge into con-ceiving Get Physical – a label, which remains one of the world’s best- known House and Techno platforms. Though he left in 2010, T. still occasionally A&Rs for the label, lending his uncanny ability to uncover new talent to the seminal label. 
Production-wise, he has been consistent ever since his debut release, the ‘Mon-sterbaze’ EP with Steve Bug, which was released on Poker Flat in 2000. Since then, T. has released several well-received EPs, a slew of remixes and three al-bums, ‘Boogie Playground’ in 2005, ‘The Inner Jukebox’ produced with Tho-mas Schumacher in 2009 and ‘Pleasure Principle’ in 2011. His special touch has also been employed by numerous labels to curate compilation mixes , including ‘United Under The Ball – 30 Years Of Disco’ in 2011 and ‘The House That Jack Built Vol 1 & 2’ in 2012. In 2013 he celebrated 25 years of DJing with a very personal mix compilation, followed also by ‘Body Language 15’ and col-laboration with Defected and Strictly Rhythm to celebrate the latter’s 25th anni-versary. DJ T.’s reputation for being a master selector has been cemented by these superlative collections of music, each of which has received widespread praise, often featuring many of T.’s own edits of classic tracks. 
Despite so many accolades, his passion for music remains staunch, recently making several key changes to his professional life that have inspired him to explore new terrains. With hot new releases on AUS Music, Moon Harbour, True Soul and Jackathon representing his continued to desire to push his crea-tive boundaries. 
A highly-skilled DJ and producer and an A&R with an uncanny ability to dis-cover a nurture new talent, DJ T. is a master selector and one of the industry’s most influential figures.
