Ahead of the release of Cook Strummer's Berlin Gets Physical in September comes the first of two EPs from it. 

Berlin-based Cacao Records bosses and brotherly duo KEENE are behind the opening track. They are regulars on labels like Connected and have a deep and spiritual house sound. That is the case here with the dynamic drums and chunky bass of 'Ecoute' which comes with Afro vocals and loose, organic percussion. It's a fantastically atmospheric affair followed by a collaboration between two more Berlin based artists Los Cabra & Manuel Sahagun. 

They mix organic rhythms and electronic tension on labels like Bar 25 Music and Stil Vor Talent. Here, their 'Italian Groove' is a crisp tech house offering with snappy snares and tight drums. Once they have you locked in, a rugged bass synth signals take off while ever more lush and cosmic synths colour the airwaves. It's an expansive and high energy track to ignite any DJ set. 

This superb EP is a great taster of the full compilation to come.

Italian maestro Lehar drops his debut with TAU, with three original cuts and two remixes. Lehar heads up the Multinotes label, and his produc- tions have caught the ear of tastemakers at labels such as Afterlife and Diynamic, among others. Known for his deep, subtle sound Lehar is a welcome addition to the TAU squad...

The EP kicks off with title track ‘The 26th Beginning’ (featuring Filippo Nardini), an absolutely captivating composition with stirring vocals and a subdued yet enchanting instrumental. Lehar’s production skills complement Filippo’s heartrending vocals perfectly, with ever-progressing layers of synth work dancing around the bassline. This is emotionally mature and transcendent, whisking you away from the dance floor to a place of comfort, escape and love.

‘Matilda’ is next, taking us into a darker dimension. The haunting atmosphere features a simple, yet highly effective reverbed riff, along with crisp beats and a morose bassline. There’s an air of mystery embedded within this unsettling composition, and a subtle hint of joy that slowly unfolds, eventually dominating and changing the feeling of the track entirely.

Then we have ‘Carnet De Voyage’, which utilises organic sounding guitar licks, alongside similarly “live” sounding percussion. Fizzing synth lines descend into the main body of the cut, along with an analogue melody that sounds like it was extracted from a 60s sci-fi movie. Lehar demon- strates his versatility on this cut, with impeccable progression - as with the other tracks on this release, he tells a sonic story, with a beginning, middle and end.

Adana Twins are first up with a remix of the title track. They retain the deep, nourishing feel of the original, adding a more dramatic overtone. After a spinetingling breakdown, we’re led into a menacing bassline which is cleverly juxtaposed with Flilippo’s beautifully delivered vocals.

Lehar then teams up with Musumeci for the second rework of ‘The 26th Beginning’. This one features an enchanting cosmic riff, and a warm, sombre bassline. Together they add swirling synth lines to shift the original into a refreshed atmosphere. Those sublime vocals given the room to really strike the listener at the very core of their heart...

Sunexplosion dives into a more melodic and dreamlike corner of Progressive House with Phantom | Starcore | Gimmick — a deep and emotional three-track release. The title track Phantom is a collaboration between Slovak producer Allex and rising Russian talent Flaist. Flaist brings a cinematic, ambient-influenced edge, while Allex delivers his signature precision and drive. Both artists create a lush, layered opener full of melodic depth. Starcore and Gimmick follow as solo productions by Allex, offering rich textures, subtle rhythmic development, and a more introspective mood. Imagine this - you’re in the Amazon rainforest, being chased by a Jaguar, and somehow, out of complete coincidence, you end up in a party deep within the greenery of your surroundings. Sounds too good to be true, doesn’t it? And yet, ‘Yaguar’ is no fictitious dream, but the soundtrack to Invoker’s real-life story, and one we’ve already become familiar with since it being in his ‘Afternoon Creations’ mix with us recently. And even though familiar, it’s still an enthralling rendition which gets us into gear like the very time we were introduced. From the start, with the fast tempo, bolting bass and whiplashes weaving alongside the rattling clicks, we are plunged into the centrefold of the drama, running fast and swishing around - much like a heart beating rapidly and legs moving non-stop to an unknown destination. Bright and docile chords glide forwards to the breakdown laced with a tribal drum, only to clap us back into place with high-pitched twinkles for that touch of extra drama - surely a sign of the party being found? Now in a much less frantic stage and everything much more cohesively together, we are taken to second breakdown, where the atmosphere becomes slightly darker yet bounces back to a more joyous soundscape, where the rattles and drums lead us to the end, and of course, envisage the good luck struck upon the story teller.

Invōker - Yaguar

In today’s electronic music world there are not many artists who can lay claim to a legacy like that of DJ T. Born in Dusseldorf, DJ T. (aka Thomas Koch,) re-located to Frankfurt with his family in the late 70s. During his formative years, he fell for the hypnotic grooves of disco, inspired by his parents’ record collec-tion. At the age of nine he was already completely enraptured by music and that love affair continues until this very day. He began an obsessive quest to collect music, feeding his soul with everything from Disco and Hi-Nrg, through to early Hip-Hop and Electro, Soul, Funk and R’n’B. The groovy, infectious rhythms of all those genres continue to permeate into the music he makes and plays today, providing an intrinsic part of his sound ethic. 
He took up breakdancing, before becoming a DJ, playing at private parties ini-tially before landing his first professional gigs in the late eighties. This period proved to be a pivotal moment in his life as Acid House swept through Europe, landing in Frankfurt and taking over with the launch of Sven Väth’s legendary Omen club in 1988. The first wave of House and Techno took hold and T. was there at the forefront, absorbing all the fresh new sounds from Chicago, Detroit and the UK. He picked up a residency at the infamous Music Hall and held resi-dencies at countless clubs across the city during the next 10 years from Plastik and Dorian Gray to The Box. By the end of the nineties, he was one of Frank-furt’s best-known selectors. 
In 1989 DJ T. tapped into another side of his creative energy to set up Groove Magazine. Identifying a gap in the market and fuelled by a need to satisfy his own desire for specialised music journalism, which focused on his interests – namely underground dance music. Under his leadership the magazine was launched into the public’s consciousness and he guided Groove to become one of Europe’s premier dance music publications, which it still is today. 
DJ T.’s progression continued at a pace, as he launched his own club, Monza, using the experience gained through a decade of club events and tours under the Groove Magazine banner. He also invested his skills and knowledge into con-ceiving Get Physical – a label, which remains one of the world’s best- known House and Techno platforms. Though he left in 2010, T. still occasionally A&Rs for the label, lending his uncanny ability to uncover new talent to the seminal label. 
Production-wise, he has been consistent ever since his debut release, the ‘Mon-sterbaze’ EP with Steve Bug, which was released on Poker Flat in 2000. Since then, T. has released several well-received EPs, a slew of remixes and three al-bums, ‘Boogie Playground’ in 2005, ‘The Inner Jukebox’ produced with Tho-mas Schumacher in 2009 and ‘Pleasure Principle’ in 2011. His special touch has also been employed by numerous labels to curate compilation mixes , including ‘United Under The Ball – 30 Years Of Disco’ in 2011 and ‘The House That Jack Built Vol 1 & 2’ in 2012. In 2013 he celebrated 25 years of DJing with a very personal mix compilation, followed also by ‘Body Language 15’ and col-laboration with Defected and Strictly Rhythm to celebrate the latter’s 25th anni-versary. DJ T.’s reputation for being a master selector has been cemented by these superlative collections of music, each of which has received widespread praise, often featuring many of T.’s own edits of classic tracks. 
Despite so many accolades, his passion for music remains staunch, recently making several key changes to his professional life that have inspired him to explore new terrains. With hot new releases on AUS Music, Moon Harbour, True Soul and Jackathon representing his continued to desire to push his crea-tive boundaries. 
A highly-skilled DJ and producer and an A&R with an uncanny ability to dis-cover a nurture new talent, DJ T. is a master selector and one of the industry’s most influential figures.
