Ez crew

Because of Coronavirus restrictions and us both being so busy nowadays in other things its very rarely me and Mark get to meet up for a mix. The mix is always in his, and is usually best in the day so we can crank it up a bit without worrying the neighbours, as they have kids like Mark and we cant mix properly if its too loud and pissing people off.

Ive become very slack on the mixing front recently have been so busy with my audio production degree at SAE Institute (which is going fair to good) and now mine and FUNTs label Foot Long Records label even though I have a pair of brand new LTA Mixars Super OEMs, which are ill as fuck.

We have done these mixes for a few years since our late friend Robby McBurney (B-Side) introduced us to each other, after he showed Robby how to mix way back in 1996. Mark has really helped me in so many ways mixing and understanding the industry and I could not have asked for a better person to show me the ropes without being a brown nose who is constantly begging for gigs and being a people pleaser whose fighting over getting on after 12pm (warm up sets arent important/hard like ???). Lets not forget the impact Robby also had on me before Mark as well, as he helped me an enormous amount himself, RIP Robby you absolute fucking legend, we miss you all the world.

This mix is not perfect by any means, probably more the times im on the decks (Tommy Badman)in all honesty because im hardly mixing atm and im quite simply not as good as him anyway. But it is 100% vinyl and un-edited though so who gives a ****.

The year is 2077.  Society has collapsed under the control of a brutal dictatorship.  The UK is a military state and all uprisings are suppressed.  But one last bastion of resistance remains…through a network of squat raves and free parties…the Night Ravers Control The Underground.

‘The Night Ravers’ is the first release on Codename: RCRDS, the new label from Southampton-based jungle, 160 and atmospheric crew Codename: Amen.  The release and label channel the energy of the 90’s rave era, pushing the sound forward into exciting new directions for 2023.  

Moakz’s original mix marks a movement away from his previous atmospheric and jazz jungle releases, and towards his hardcore roots.  Now complemented by storming remixes from the incredible RAVETRX (HooverSound, forthcoming Club Glow), Jon Tetly then delivers a tearout Amen rework, and the release closes out with the superbly talented NonRev and rising star Cold Leader delivering innovative reworks, with this EP provides a marker of intent for the label and collective artists.

Future releases on Codename: RCRDS will continue to mine the Jungle / Hardcore / 160 and Atmospheric continuums, via a series of various artist releases commencing from May 2023.

Part 2 of the ‘Drifting…’ trilogy of releases, ‘Keys For A Drifting Rose EP’ is the fourth release on Codename: RCRDS, the new label from Southampton-based jungle, 160 and atmospheric crew Codename: Amen. The release and label channel the energy of the 90’s rave era, pushing the sound forward into exciting new directions for 2023. The ‘Drifting…’ series focusses specifically on more atmospheric / melodic tracks, and again presents a diverse international roster of artists – this time hailing from Serbia, Finland, the UK and USA.

Keys For A Drifting Rose commences with ‘The One’ by the atmos master Okee, a dreamy inward looking roller for the ages, alternating haunting vocals perfectly capturing feelings of post-rave isolation. Man of the moment Mineral returns to the label with ‘Shallow’, contrasting chopped breaks, atmospheric tones and deep rumbling basses in a beautiful example of his truly unique sound.

Next up we find the prolific NonRev in commanding form, with the mysterious and powerful roller ‘Private Eye’, perfectly primed to get dancefloors moving with it’s rumbling basslines, intricate drum edits and catchy vocals, before the EP closes with Sam Link’s fascinating reworking of ‘Shallow’, where a half-time rhythm is interspersed with the breakbeat choppage and atmospherics of Mineral’s original, clearly demonstrating the talents of this unique and talent artist.

Tally G, originally from El Paso, Texas, has been behind the decks off and on for the past two decades.  She is known for her diversity as a drum and bass DJ, seamlessly blending jungle, footwork, juke, deep minimal, and neurofunk,  among other subgenres.  Every set is a journey, told through a combination of long, thoughtful transitions, skillfully quick mixing, and energetic double drops guaranteed to get bodies moving and gun fingers popping.  She has opened for the legendary John B, Colette, Mizeyesis, Kaskade, and DJ Irene.  She holds residencies with Boomslang Recordings (USDNB), Siren Project (NYC), Proper Chicago, The Distinguished (CO), Syncopation (AZ), and THC Kru (USDNB) and is the co-founder of El Paso, Texas's DNBtherapy Drum and Bass.  Tally G is also on the board of directors for Siren Project.  She has played around the United States and is currently learning music production.  You can catch her at SD Union's Day Dream Saturday, July 15th and at Sacred Acre Music Festival in Ninilchik, Alaska September 8, 9, and 10.
