Hello Everyone:

Welcome to A Complete Balearic Journey - Session 22 - Autumn 2012, the first in a series of all new EPIC adventures taking you (the listener) on a voyage through the seasons and sound. I feel that each season has its own unique sound, a sub-genre that provides an aural feel of what our other senses experience.

Autumn is my favorite season and one that I have developed a very special "relationship" with, Autumn is "ME," I resonate with it in every way possible. I feel more alive during this season than I do in any other, including Summer, for Autumn possesses an undeniable magic.

Autumn is the season of ultimate change, a change that can be visibly observed more than in the other seasons, with the exception of Spring, though the change in Autumn is much more spectacular. Autumn’s change is evident in the leaves whose beauty cannot be described, almost as if the Earth is putting on a grand finale before the harshness of Winter. I relish this beauty, my entire body, mind and spirit "move" with it. Autumn is also a time of personal change, at least for me, a time when my thoughts turn inward and I reflect on the year past. Autumn is melancholy and full of the "sad-happiness" that seems such a part of my life.

Autumn is October, my favorite month, and by far the most magic month of the year, secret, mysterious, often full of deception and trickery. Elegba and Mercury, without any doubt October personifies both. October is Saturn, death, time, binding . . . Trying to keep it all (and myself) together, at times in vain, when it seems only natural to let it all (and myself) fall apart.

The track selection for this mix came quite easily, quite possibly because I know Autumn and its sound so well. This mix (the beginning of the end) is reflective of all that October is, especially that special feeling that comes with no other month or season. Again, I will be your trusted guide as WE begin OUR ascent . . .

OUR journey begins early on a mid-October evening, the setting Sun casting a golden glow as it reflects off trees painted in the colors of fall. There's a definite chill in the air as OUR minds drift back to memories of The Magic Island. WE try to forget, passing the time with menial tasks, though it's always there, so close, alive with light, music, and the beautiful people of a Summer now past. Balearic HOUSE, progressive HOUSE, Balearic TRANCE, and progressive TRANCE provide the appropriate backdrop as we travel upwards through the early evening hours. Knowing that WE are forever BALEARIC, and IBIZA is OUR dream provides some consolation as the night closes in . . .
