welcome to the very first test broadcast of radio botánica. my name is kate, and i'm growing a dj booth. 

i'm known more as an organic/melodic/afro dj here in Denver, but it turns out when i'm given the aux and told to play whatever i want, we end up with an hour that starts with and builds to some banging trance.

note: at radio botánica we believe that every mix is its own cultivar, carefully created by a process of selection and craft. as such, all radio botánica broadcasts are live recordings and may include blemishes you don't think belong there. but they do. mistakes are part of life, and at radio botánica we hold space for them.

each cultivar (i know they are species and not cultivars, but roll with it) is named for a plant that has meaning to its maker. today's breed - hyacinthus orientalis, the hyacinth - is one of the only flowers i've ever seen that blooms blue, and it was given to me at a very important point in my life where things were changing, big time. 

a certain weirdness standing on the precipice of profuse growth? sounds either infectious or beautiful. go for either. give it a listen to see what you think. it's radio botánica.
