After playing 1.5 hrs. I finally remembered to press record and was able to record at least the last 2 hrs. Live DJ set from Housemates Berlin 2024 in Berlin, Germany. The 3.5 hrs flew by with everybody dancing and enjoying. So much Love.

The wait is over! It’s time for me to present the third installment of my mix series Underground Silence. This time, I’m thrilled to feature none other than my friend and esteemed artist Potkis from Prague, Czech Republic. Over the past few years, he has proven that his artistic talent and essence go far beyond dance and photography. His creativity spans multiple channels, which he now demonstrates as a DJ. After we played together at the Spotlight event in Prague, I immediately knew: I needed him for my next episode.

Read on below for a mini interview as we asked the dancer / DJ some questions!

How do you see your role in the history of house dance culture in France and Europe?

I belong to the group of pioneers in France. I have helped spread this dance in France and throughout Europe since the middle of the 90s. Transmitting this culture has always been important to me, be it in my professional career as a dancer or as a DJ though my " Atmosphère" project.

What was it that made Paris the centre of house dance culture in Europe? Was it the people? Competitions? Clubs?

 .When we first took part in this movement, we already had a strong knowledge of clubbing due to the fact that we were already part of the cosmopolitan and rich hip hop culture.
There is a strong Hip Hop club culture in France that has been a foundation for the history of dance, clubs were the only spaces available to us to express ourselves.
As a result, for long time we were just a few of us, twenty at the most, sharing this passion; our favourite clubs between 1996 and 2004 were the Queen "respect party", the Rex Club "legends party", the Cheers, the Djoon and I’m sure I’m forgetting many others ...
When battles began with the Juste Debout (Just Standing), this popularised this dance and its dancers who were already household names in the Hip Hop world. 
French house dance got known and recognized by the general public through these competitions.

Was it the people?
In chronological order until today Mission Impossible , Queen Step , O trip House, Serial Steppers and of course many dancers.
 

When was the first time you saw house dance and what was your reaction?

The first time I saw house dance was in music videos in 1992, Crystal waters "gypsy woman" and many others ... the documentary "house of trees" that was broadcast in France.
I did not know what this dance was called but I loved the energy that came out itu, and above all I recognised the same American dancers in hip hop but not on the same musical genre, it was natural to follow this new trend.
 
As a DJ what are you trying to do when you play music?

I try to tell a story and to surprise people, to connect as much as possible with the people on the dance floor to make them travel while making them discover my musical identity.
 
Tell us how O'Trip House came together.

Otrip house is a collective made us of different groups and spanning many generations, Mission Impossible, Sans Rancune, 7th sense, Asphalte.
The collective was created in 2003 on Meech ‘s initiatve
 
You are one of the first generation of people / crews to do house dance in Paris. Were there many people doing the same?
Between 1997 - 2004 there was few people to practice this dance in club, like i said 20 but after 2004 it has grown until today .
 
You dance and you DJ. What else do you enjoy?

I love music and art in general, I stay curious about everything and I love the artistic projects in which I can get out of my usual routine, I love to develop new perspectives.  
 
In your opinion what makes a good DJ?
 
A DJ is someone who makes people dance, with his own musical imprint, I'll make it short, it's more or less a music “transmitter”
 
In your opinion what makes a good dancer?

Hard work, hard work, hard work, sensitivity to my art and hard work always…
