Piff Records presents A Story Of Innocence Lost, the latest record by Shaolin Cowboy. At five tracks long, the EP presents a jazzy vision of deep house from Shaolin Cowboy, also known as Alec Campbell, and features collaborations with producer AJ Edward. What stands out here is Campbell's ability to craft intriguing rhythms and gorgeous textures, a stellar addition to a growing back catalogue.

'Yeh Yeh Yeh' blends the physicality of jazz with house stylings. Minor-key chords make up the lead section, but the shuffling percussion underneath adds vitality.

“Sounds that channel dubby echoes from Norwegian forests through modern Techno rhythms” is a perfect description of Karoline Hegrenes’ musical identity "Karolinski". Making a deep impression in the Scandinavian music firmament for several years now in the form of producer, label owner, DJ and live performer, Karolinski has managed to transport herself and her music from a rural Norway hamlet just outside of Bergen to Oslo and beyond into Europe. Her live performance on Boiler Room is a magical modular techno faerytale.

It was her track “I’m a Supergirl 01” from 2018 debut album “Abnormal Soundscape” (released through her FJORDFJELLOGDALER label) that first landed Karolinski on our radar. Shifting the boundaries between dub techno and downtempo house “I’m a Supergirl 01” is at once intimately euphoric and jackin’ but entirely colossal. This is music to dance into at the dawn of a day consisting of 24 hour sunlight. 

“I’m a supergirl 02” lands ahead of the Jaeger Oslo resident’s new full length outing “for akasha” (released 31 July, 2020) and finds the Northern European artist once again scaling the heights of arctic techno and IDM. The head nod vibe is still there but Karolinski now treks into fresh terrain, in places entirely introspective and cerebral. Layers of glistening synthesis rise and disappear, collapsing on themselves while dub filtered vocals vibrate and dance amongst sharp footwerk rhythms, industrial snares falling like droplets from hanging icicles. Warm up to the Karolinski vibe.
