Friends Of All The World is the moniker of Nick Gudgeon, an undersung producer and deejay who haunts Bandcamp and K Rd. Def check out his catalogue at friendsofalltheworld.bandcamp.com, and stay tuned for further releases later this year. 

This mix was recorded in Naarm at Nick's brother's flat at 2am in the morning and is a warm antidote to clubbing and travelling in the post-COVID world. It represents Nick's capitulation and recovery from Inner Varnika over Easter, and is best served warm and cosy, great for both night rides and early Sunday morning sessions.

Lupini is a DJ and broadcaster based in Liverpool. She is a bit of an unsung hero if you ask us, having worked tirelessly behind the scenes of endless projects and as the station manager at the city’s Melodic Distraction.

More recently she has been broadcasting music on NTS, on which she has launched her own show and has gathered a core following of listeners who have gravitated towards her selections which span the breadth of dub, post punk, ambient and the leftfield fringes of electronic music.

She’s been pivotal in helping to push and promote a wealth of musicians from the North and has documented this off piste music culture from Liverpool, Manchester and beyond for the love of it growing as a DJ and an artist in her own right at the same time.

This tape reflects a scenario she describes as being best listened to on “a fuzzy Sunday with a Scorpio-rising full moon, as folks come in on the roll-through and need their heads rattling a bit.”

This one goes deep, we’re delighted to include one of our favourite selectors in the series.

Vancouver based Cloudface has emerged in the last couple of years as someone who is reinvigorating house music with a serene sense of mood. As well as links to Future Times and Black Opal, he has released a hugely sought after 12” on acclaimed Canadian label Mood Hut and works with Max Ravitz as DSR.MR. Born David Reynolds, Cloudface’s music is raw and prickly, yet comes doused in ambient beauty, with emotive pads and tumbling drums countering each other in compelling and comforting ways. 

For his Dekmantel mix, he serves up a sizzling 77 minute selection of own unreleased tracks, some live recordings and special studio jams. It is a great insight into his musical mind and processes that starts in a heavenly, blissful place before slowly drifting into lazy grooves, dubbed out analogue grooves and frosty yet always soul infused beats. The result is a truly wintery yet heart warming listen.
