Over the past 8 years or so we have had, along with Theo Parrish, the honour of playing the monthly residencies at a small basement club in Shoreditch, London with an impeccable sound system. After 20 years of operation, it was time to move on and close the doors on a place that has a lot to answer for in shaping modern club culture. To say this space along with the owner Ade’s singular vision was fundamental in our personal musical formation would be a complete understatement. 
 
On the day of their closing, manager Charlotte asked us if we’d put the system through its paces for the last time that the club would be open to the public. We set about packing the anthems from our respective residencies and on the night once the people were through the doors played 2 records in turn for the rest of the dance. We included tracks of our own and of friends that were made with that place in mind. Records like Daphni - Ye Ye and Four Tet - Pinnacles were made to first be played at Kieran’s nights there, and the Floating Points - Vacuum EP was born out of the CD-R night at the club, and its launch party was the trigger for Sam’s monthly residency.
 
We set this recording up just before the start of the night and unfortunately it distorts in places, but we make no apology for how joyfully noisy people get! The vibe in the room this night was typical of the club on any given night and we hope this recording captures just a fraction of the spirit of a Plastic People night.
 
A massive thank you from us to everyone that has come down to the nights over the years and supported our music there. We are truly humbled to have shared the music we love with people at this place, and your energy in turn has influenced the way we make music on an unfathomable scale. We also thank the bosses Charlotte Kepel and Ade Fakile for inviting us to the club and having faith in us over  these years! All the best for the future!

Floating Points & Four Tet - Final Plastic People 2 1 2015

There is a big black heart in Barcelona that it is still beating. Three weeks later, we’re still digesting the magic that was the fourth edition of Mostra festival. From the most intimate listening moments to collective catharsis on the dancefloor, this year was something else.

Starting from the end this year, we’re proud to present the recorded closing set from Mostra's resident ABSIS, who delivered a deeply emotional finale that distilled everything Mostra stands for: a blend of force, finesse, energy and passion — all woven into one.

Across four editions, countless moments, different days and stages, ABSIS has always been there: reading the different dance floors, adapting, connecting the dots between sound and feelings. Being a resident is more than just playing; it’s embodying the festival’s pulse, giving it identity and continuity, and raising the collective experience to another level.

If you’ve journeyed with Mostra through the years, you know how central ABSIS (alongside Timnah and Patrick Russell) has been to shaping that Mostra spirit. If you haven’t yet, you may find the chance next year.

And now, for the first time: ABSIS closing the festival. A powerful tribute to what it means to support the local scene, not just by listing names from the city, but by creating moments like this one that matters.

This month, we have a small gift for you to celebrate the summer solstice: a bright and colorful journey through sound, curated by our beloved A. Brehme.
After connecting and spending some inspiring time together, we decided to share this special mix for the occasion.
And as it happens, today we’re back together once again celebrating this meaningful day under the longest light of the year, surrounded by good energy and deep frequencies.

Brussels-based DJ and producer a. brehme weaves hypnotic techno and house music with seductive grooves and an intrinsic focus on the dancefloor. Encompassing nearly twenty years of experience, he aims to take you on a journey through the psychedelic spectrum of electronic club music. as a regular guest at Belgium’s finest nightclubs, he’s also established a solid reputation as a versatile DJ during performances across Asia, Europe and the US.

After visiting the lakeside dreamland last year I couldn't help myself but imagine on the moment what I would play if I had the opportunity to perform there myself (as any DJ would, I guess). I had different archetypes of sets forming in the back of my mind for different times of the day possible, if the opportunity ever came one day. 
So when I got invited to play the opening of Floresta on Sunday, it first came as a bit of a surprise, but the surprise turned into excitement and it was time to prepare a special set where I could dig into my dub techno collection. 
So, I am very happy to share with you the recording of my set, where I finally had the chance to play slow, deep, dubby and sunny techno in such a setting.

Altinbas at Waking Life 2025, Sunday Floresta Opening

Berlin-based DJ Jesse G is known for her energetic, genre-spanning sets that surprise and delight crowds, her sound is a playful, wide-ranging medley of deep, metallic, trippy, groovy, jacking, and percussive techno, with diverse rhythms and a UK bass influence.

Her distinctive sound is also informed by an encyclopedic understanding of electronic music and from honing her craft over her nearly six years as an integral member of the staff at the hallowed Berlin record store, Hard Wax. In addition to having held down residencies at RSO Berlin and Tresor, she has played venues such as Berghain, De School, Open Ground, and Blitz Club; and graced festivals including ADE Het Weekend and Nachtiville.

Jesse shared some words about the mix:
“I wanted this mix to sound playful, energetic and organic with a few surprises here and then. It was also important to me to include many artists who inspired me in the last months - be it musically or / and also on a personal level, so this mix is also like a summary of my Summer and the past months.”

Interest in Japanese electronic music never wanes, and that is thanks to the work of producers like Gonno. As a key part of the contemporary musical landscape in the Far East, he has released on local as well as international labels like Perc Trax, Endless Flight and Ostgut Ton. He is someone who brings acid and melody to his techno and has put out fantastically realized full lengths such as 2015’s Remember The Life Is Beautiful as well as many EPs in the last decade. A regular guest at key parties in Europe as well as Japan, he recently played one such party on a Sunday afternoon. 

Taking place at a club near the beach called Oppala, he played for seven hours straight and managed to record the mix. Now he presented the first three hours for our podcast series. Starting with some unmistakably Japanese ambient sounds and delicate instruments, he then plots a journey through organic slow motion grooves that drip with musicality and tumble in pleasing ways. Never less than smooth and seductive, things get a little more energetic later on with more corrugated grooves, icy hi hats and bumpy beats and the whole thing makes for a rare recorded insight into the DJ side of this esteemed artist.

There is no one quite like San Proper. The Dutchman is a rare and real character in a scene that is all too often devoid of genuine personality. It shows in the wild music he makes, the wonderful Red Light Radio shows he hosts and the often weird sets he serves up at clubs and festivals round the world. Releasing most often on Rush Hour but also on Dopeness Galore and Perlon, he can do dark minimal as well as big hearted soul and can lay down a big guitar riff or program an off kilter drum line all with equal élan. 

His Dekmantel podcast finds the Dr. dig deep into his vinyl collection and serve up 23 slabs of soul, funk and afro magic across two hours that feel very personal. Traversing scenes, styles and tempos with flawless mixing and blending, he tells a very colour tale that breaks all the rules of a usual mix yet still makes complete sense. It is the sound of a selector who has open ears and who, ten years since his first release, is as thrilling and unpredictable as ever.

Patrick Russell is one of the more under-the-radar DJs who hail from Detroit. The reason for that is his uncompromising style. He plays what he wants, not what he thinks you want to hear. Finally the world is catching up and the man brought up on the Midwest rave scene is making wider waves. He is a core member of the No Way Back party that reinterpret the city’s rave past for a new audience, and will be one of the many DJs playing Dekmantel Festival in August, so we invited him into our series to show off his skills. 

His sixty minute mix is a heady world of creepy and paranoid techno. From the sort of warped, 4am soundtracks that makes best sense in a pitch black club to brain frying and peak time stuff that bashes you round the head, it’s always on the move and always keeping you guessing.
