Aurora Halal is a producer, DJ and creator of Brooklyn’s influential Mutual Dreaming party series & the Sustain-Release festival.

Shadowy and psychedelic, her hardware live & DJ sets have a hazy sensuality and metallic dance floor intensity that’s at turns playful, dark, euphoric and emotionally vulnerable. In all her projects, she treats dance music as an are­na for trans­for­ma­tion and since 2010, her events have been root­ed in an under­ground, DIY approach that push­es for­ward-think­ing sounds, pro­duc­tion, and ideas. She’s spent the last 10 years tour­ing like-mind­ed clubs, raves, and fes­ti­vals world­wide and gained a rep­u­ta­tion for pow­er­ful, unique per­for­mances that work both the body and mind. She’s 4 years into a res­i­den­cy at NYC’s Nowa­days, is a reg­u­lar at Berghain and pre­vi­ous­ly De School.

Our first mix of the New Year is an otherworldly back-to-back between DJ Nobu & Aurora Halal that was recorded live at Dekmantel Festival 2023. Japan's Nobu is a renowned selector with a singular but fluid approach to techno and experimental electronic music. He’s the cult figure behind the long‑running Future Terror party series and Bitta label, both of which showcase truly adventurous sounds. Halal, meanwhile, is the Brooklyn‑based favourite who runs the respected Mutual Dreaming series and has a shadowy, psychedelic style that melts genres together with experimental textures.

The pair represent two distinct but complementary strands of underground music culture, as heard in this special two-hour recording. There's a rawness to it that keeps you on edge as the duo weave mind-melting techno tales, spin out into cosmic electro and strip everything away to reveal pulsing, hypnotic rhythmic cores. It's an utterly immersive musical dialogue between two modern titans.

Xiaolin is a DJ, producer, record collector and instrumentalist from Hong Kong.  Driven by a love for colourful emotions and contrasting textures, she is known for crafting patiently dynamic vinyl-led journeys filled with emotion and depth.  Drawing influence from the 80’s-early 00’s, the former concert violinist and now 宀 resident hosts her trippy club night “HEX”, with guests such as Peach, Vlada, Polygonia, Paquita Gordon and DJ Dustin.  With critically acclaimed releases on 宀 & Sound Metaphors, Xiaolin’s ethereal yet grounded sound has left lasting impressions at Lofi, Panorama Bar, Draaimolen and Monument Festival in 2025, and was recently listed on Mixmag’s “Artists to Watch in 2026”.

This mix features her live recorded set at ADE 2025 for CODA, an annual collaborative party by Ratherlost and Pax Romana on Lofi’s Colorfloor, where she dug deep into her record collection and delivered an immersive dancefloor experience.

The Texan prodigy transmits the sound of sci-fi techno in 2026.

What does the future feel like in 2026? In an era dominated by nostalgia and electronic revivalism, even techno—a genre once defined by futurism—has begun to feel stagnant. Enter Gautham Garg, aka Decoder. Raised in Dallas, the 21-year-old offers a refreshed vision of techno for the present moment.

While comparisons to techno stargazers like Mills and Richie Hawtin are inevitable, RA.1023 reveals a broader palette. Microtonal flourishes recall Aleksi Perälä’s Colundi era, while the patient structures lean closer to Perlon-style minimalism than early-2000s severity, with nods to Ricardo Villalobos and Margaret Dygas.

Built largely from unreleased material, RA.1023 captures Garg’s vision of techno for this decade. There’s weight, but it’s more body than bite: elastic, finely tuned drums and a buoyant hypnotism that persists even in rougher moments. Though often labeled sci-fi, Garg’s sound adds layers to cold futurism—instead, optimism shines through. In his hands, techno’s future still feels bright.

Pariah has recently returned with Here From Where We Are, his first solo material in a while. The debut album on Houndstooth finds the producer develop beatless, synth heavy soundtracks into long, thoughtful pieces that are utterly absorbing. It’s a new musical identity for someone closely associated with visceral techno thanks to his work as one half of live duo Karenn with Blawan, but as a DJ he still pumps the dance floor. 

This mix is testament to that: it’s ninety minutes of diverse electronic music that dips into afro drumming, sleek minimalism and off kilter UK bass as well as some cheeky garage. As it wraps up, drums make way for subtle and supple synth rhythms that leave you utterly horizontal, a mile away from the sweaty state that proceeds it. Like Pariah himself, it’s tied to no one sound or scene and is wholly refreshing as a result.
