Continuum: a coherent whole characterized as a collection, sequence, or progression of values or elements varying by minute degrees.

As we keep weaving our Continuum's sonic tapestry, we have reached our next stop. For our third ritual, we welcome Daniel[i] who will thread a new musical chapter for us. Daniel is an artist we have been lucky to bump into at multiple events, and no wonder why. You can find him performing one of his live or DJ sets (which have taken him to iconic clubs and festivals like OHM, Tresor, C12, Perpendicular, La Valle Electrique…) or collaborating with super projects like Circle of Live. His releases can be found on iconic labels like Alpengluhen, 012, Danza Nativa, Lowless… and we are just naming a few! He also runs the beloved Whispering Signals labels and adjacent projects. And he even has time to curate for incredible festivals like La Nature (which we had the pleasure to visit this year). A busy bee!

We are delighted to have him join The Continuum with this real treat: a recorded set during a Brandwerk anniversary event. Daniel is a master of deep and introspective sounds in any shape or form: ambient, deep techno, dub… and for this one, he delivered a delight of dub goodness: expect a deep groove that would go down a treat as a warmup or at the afters. A heads-down mix drenched in echoes and delays.  A timeless selection by Daniel.

Erika (@erikadotnet) is an American DJ, live act, producer and part of the triumvirate that runs the Interdimensional Transmissions (@ithqdetroit) platform that produces legendary events such as No Way Back, Samhain and Return to the Source, as well as over 50 exceptional releases on the ITHQ record label. 
 
Erika will be closing the main stage Saturday night at Monument Festival 2024, so if you’re lucky enough to be attending - this will provide you with the perfect soundtrack for your journey there. For our latest Bleep Mix instalment, Sandwell District come through with a hefty programming of dark rollers fulfilling that promise of reinvigorated purpose they mentioned before: “Having a good time”. And with a wealth of exclusive unheard material it’s hard to refute the mission statement. Dropping straight into the cavernous environs of an unreleased Regis side Frosty Jack’s, the selection rides a restrained line building tension through a number of Nastia Reigel tracks deployed with utmost precision before upping its stride with Luke Slater’s Planetary Assault Systems and quickly landing first peak from The Wizard himself, with Jeff Mills' slamming ‘93 cut Step to Enchantment (Stringent). Taking in a track from their comrade Surgeon’s forthcoming album, as well as the simmering acid of their own tune Hidden, Sandwell District bring it back round full circle via two further unreleased reworks of heroes Meat Beat Manifesto providing a breakbeat singed rupture to close out the proceedings with the vocal snatches of MBM’s Helter Skelter summing it all up really: “It's in my brain now. This is it!”

The attention the Amsterdam scene currently enjoys is, in no small part, down to the tireless work of Sandrien. She’s been there since the nineties, with residences at Trouw and now De School, close ties to Rush Hour and also through her own parties, which have been bringing the likes of DJ Nobu and Blawan to the city for years. Her uncompromising techno style has taken her around the world and to labels like Ben Sims’ Theory, amongst others. In short, she is a living local legend.

Sandrien takes a long view on this mix, starting with an escapist ambient selection that gets your attention. It transports you to a different world before the DJ puts her foot down and brings the grooves. Things remain decidedly cinematic and intergalactic over the course of the next hour, with various shades of deep techno eventually ending up in a place of ambient beauty not far from where you started. It’s a rounded mix that begs to be played over and over.
