Detroit and techno are inseparable. And it doesn't get much more Detroit techno than @terrencedixon. A master of minimalist sound design and globally recognised stamp of authenticity, he is one of the Motor City's most prolific artists. His brand of "forward-thinking ghetto electronics" has come on cornerstone labels like Metroplex, Tresor and Rush Hour and is never less than thrilling. His recent Reporting From Detroit album was the latest testament to that, and this week's podcast continues on that theme. 

It is made up of all original material recorded on the West Side of the city but starts in an ambient world of distant stars. After those scene-setting sounds come the signature Dixon drums: deep, pulsing, rubbery. They come and go as you voyage through tortured synth tension, suspensory alien life forms and mysterious electronics. It all makes for a storytelling mix that takes you through a portal and into a whole other dimension.

To celebrate 20 years of building Labyrinths, we have decided to release one set from each of the last ten years. I've chosen ten timeless moments that both document the history of the event and provide a historical snapshot of underground electronic music over the past ten years.

We have chosen a broad range--from closing techno sets, to morning ambient sets, to experimental sets to close the night. Each set represents a different side of the event. Taken together, they present a portrait of a decade of music.

Not so long ago, Levon Vincent took over our Motion Room with his inimitable style. The owner of Novel Sound puts in motion a knotty two hours mix where emotions collide with minimalism. Delicates melodies, satisfying synths, the recorded set sums up pretty much the hallmark of the American artist and perfectly captures the experience of a heady night on Fuse’s second floor. The Sustain-Release co-founder steps up to the Phonica mix just ahead of the acclaimed festival’s 11th year. 
New York has an iconic history when it comes to club music, and over the years has seen many great names emerge from its underground scene. In modern times, Aurora Halal is undoubtedly one of those names. 
Aurora has become a staple at forward-thinking institutions like Berghain, De School, and her home base, Nowadays, where she holds a residency. Alongside her international touring, she’s carved out her own vital space through the long-running Mutual Dreaming parties and Sustain-Release, the DIY-rooted festival she co-founded, which continues to push boundaries as it enters its second decade.
Her Phonica mix offers a vivid snapshot of her deep, intuitive approach to DJing—captured live at Mansions, a cozy NYC wine bar turned house party haven. Known for her genre-fluid sets that blend hypnotic techno, house, acid and experimental textures this is the perfect calling card to showcase why she can hold it down with a range of greats like DJ Nobu, Vladimir Ivkovic and more.
We had a chat about the mix with Aurora as well as touching off Sustain and some of her favorite moments at the festival.

I7HVN steps onto Rites with Augury, a seven-piece transmission that smolders more than it speaks. 

It’s a piece that doesn’t perform for the room, it watches, listens, and slowly coils inward, weaving ritual ambience with cinematic dread and tightly-wound IDM fractures. The tracks don’t rush; they simmer & brood. They haunt the edges of your attention before pulling you fully under. 

Built from a spine of motion art, indigenous memory, and the emotional language of bodies in movement, Augury is Ishan Gaur’s most deliberate act of sonic devotion yet. His world here is sculpted less through melody and more through erosion—tones carved, re-shaped, re-granulated until the original signal dissolves into something feral and new. What remains feels like a personal archaeology of sound: meditative on the surface, volatile beneath.

Across its seven movements, I7HVN sketches a realm where the atmosphere becomes architecture. Ambient drift mutates into hypnotic cycles; sparse percussion erupts into disciplined chaos; and every piece carries the smoke-trail of something ancient, even as it pushes toward the avant-future.
Embarking upon an otherworldly odyssey that traverses the realms of sonic enchantment, the mystical sorcerer I7HVN emerges from the magical city of Bangalore, India, to unveil the ethereal tapestry of his six-track EP, "Anodyne." Within the mystical echoes of broken beat techno, I7HVN conjures a gritty, warehouse soundscape that transcends the ordinary and beckons the listener into a realm where ancient spells meet avant-garde alchemy.
