Jackmaster's DJ-Kicks solidifies the reputation of one of the most in-demand DJs working today. In his work words, “the mix is influenced heavily by how I used to DJ at the first party I ever promoted, named Seismic, and another named Monox which was a straight up techno night where I was a resident from the age of 17. And although it wasn’t my plan, it turned into a kind of tribute to the cities that really formulated me as a DJ: Detroit, Chicago and Glasgow. There are a couple of wee secret weapons on there that are stolen from the guys at Rubadub, and obviously tracks Q1.1 by Basic Channel and the M-Plant bits I picked up from them too. The rest is stuff I found myself or on mates labels or produced by friends.” Denis Sulta's "MSNJ" belongs to the latter category, and is one of three exclusive tracks from the mix.

Denis Sulta - MSNJ [Jackmaster DJ-Kicks Exclusive]

Sweden's Mälmo continues basking under the reign of Prins Emanuel. This summer, the Prins brings his first ever full length solo album to The Magic Movement – a concept album that revolves around the medium of the vinyl record itself. Arbete/Fritid, translated from Swedish to read "Work/Leisure Time", are the moods reflected in the LP's two sides. An early Friday evening A-side and a Sunday afternoon B-side – if you will (insert something about Four Tet doing it first here).

The entire work exhibits the a multi-instrumental vision, with the Prins' past experience as a drummer coming through loud and clear. "Bike Chase" brings much of the well loved tropical percussion and hypnotic grooves we had been anticipating. Guaranteed satisfaction for fans of the Swede's former output on the Fasaan/Chalice label.

I could not have been more thrilled when @JasperWolff and @maarten_mittendorff, residents of Amsterdam's legendary De School, asked Derek Plaslaiko and I to play their night. One of their tracks "Trica" had been in constant rotation for me since its release but I knew little else about them. Both Derek and I were completely blown away by the opening set they played at De School; we could not have asked for a better intro to perfectly set the stage for what turned out to be one of our favorite nights all year. I immediately asked them to record a podcast for The Bunker and they responded with this special mix that features unreleased goodies from their studio and upcoming releases on their @indigoaera imprint. - Bryan Kasenic

Starting with this recording, we will from time to time share live-mixes from our own Dekmantel Soundsystem, consisting of founders Thomas Martojo and Casper Tielrooij. Operating as DJ duo, in addition to running the label, and subsequent festival series, they have been touring around the world in the past few years. Now we are opening up Pandora’s box, giving access to some recordings taken from select shows; a journey into some of their most intrepid sets.

The first in the series is a four-hour odyssey of finely-tuned, dance music craftsmanship. Recorded at Glasgow’s renowned Sub Club in December 2016, the sold-out show came at the end of the Dekmantel Soundystem ‘all-night’ tour that saw them take in 11 major cities throughout Europe and the middle east. Playing at the institutional Subculture party –first set up by residents Harri and Dom- the duo, worked up a set of disco, Brazilian music, electro, wave next to house and techno that features a fine balance of undiscovered gems, and party classics. With a gradual, progression in energy, it’s easily possible to imagine yourself letting loose on the dancefloor. 

“Within the first hour the audience was already jumping up and down, gladly fist-pumping the ceiling,” the Dekmantel duo recall proving the fine reputation of the club and it’s loyal visitors. Spoiler alert: “The sound technician forbid us to play another track after Gary Numan, as -in his opinion - it was the perfect ending to the night.”
