Soul Clap’s Charlie aka Charlie Soul Clap preps his UTM debut with an all out edit dream for Roy Davis Jr.’s elusive label.

For fans of Soul Clap and Roy Davis Jr. alike, the second release since Undaground Therapy Muzik’s relaunch will feel at home in their library. The new EP by Charlie Soul Clap comes in the form of a rhythm focused 4 track take — comprised of 2 A’s with 2 B’s that take a deeper focus on the first track on the release – Virgo’s Victory. The world has been closed for long enough, so Charlie and Roy felt it was time to refashion living rooms as dance floors and introduce something you could have a gentle afternoon or late night boogie too. The EP cements Charlie’s solo works as a clear ode to disco and classic house music.

The EP is being released on the 21st May worldwide. For everyone to enjoy. There may be a vinyl press when the record shops are open around the world again, but for now – this will be homed on all your favourite streaming sites, and of course, the UTM Bandcamp.

Charlie stands with two feet firmly planted on top of a mountain named Soul Clap and yet he points further into the sky with a look of mischievous excitement. Somewhere, deep on the horizon, the mystery of his musical journey will unfold. Charlie is devoted to following in the footsteps of those who have paved the way before him and continues to churn out thematic dance music that is routed in tradition but is eclectic, unexpected and contemporary edging into the future. As a principle songwriter for Soul Clap he has worked with artists like George Clinton, Nona Hendryx, Louie Vega, Laid Back, Amp Fiddler, Robert Owens, Sa’D “The Hourchild” Ali, XL Middleton, Midnight Magic, Lee Curtiss, Martin Buttrich, Wolf + Lamb, Nick Monaco, No Regular Play, PillowTalk, Navid Izadi and on and on.

Growing up in the deep south of Germany with multi ethnic friends and big interest in many different music genres of the world, Borrowed Identity built his wide knowledge in music. This variety in his musical taste is also the reason why he is working under different aliases producing a big variety of sound from ambient to house to experimental music and everything inbetween. Borrowed Identity debut EP on Quintessentials is another great example for his multistyle approach to music. You’ll find elements of house, disco, techno, ambient and more – always with an imminent love for music. Borrowed Identity released his first 12” inc. a Mark E remix on Foul&Sunk last year. That was just the start of an impressive career we dare to say. Borrowed Identity is a music freak and works very fast on tracks. It's time to get the smoke machines & glitter balls out as Pentland Park bring the heat with their Maître de Sagesse EP for the 8th release on Lava Lava.  The duo have been a mainstay in the Scottish underground scene for many years, gaining a reputation for their eclectic DJ sets and recently clocked up acclaimed releases on Brand New, CB90 Dance Recordings & Everything Will Be OK.  Their latest EP is a foray into classic Italo and Disco sounds accompanied by a sensational remix from Somethin' Sanctified.

Leading the EP, title track Maître de Sagesse takes you straight onto the dance floor with skipping drums, hazy vocals and a sub-heavy plucked basbline.  Hand claps, rattles, guitar licks and fluttering synths inject classic Disco elements into this infectious groove.

On the B side Enterprise is a nod to classic Italo sounds whilst remaining firmly rooted in modern club culture.  An effortlessly cool track where rolling hi-hats, arpeggiated bass and retro snare hits bounce alongside soft synthesisers and sharp pads.

Somethin' Sanctified bring their signature sound with an irresistible analogue take on Maître de Sagesse laid out across 7 minutes.  Crisp percussion, echoing vocals and bright synths lead playfully through the track to a gorgeous breakdown. Resonating low-end bass and four-four grooves bring a classic House flavour to their interpretation.

We fell in love with his music the first time we heard it and we think he is perfect for the Collab Grooves Part 1 EP. With „Supernatural" and „Indifference“ DFRA shows his musical skills as a producer and delivers the perfect vibes for the A side. Heavy grooving Basslines accompany jazzy vibes bringing two massive tunes for the dance floor that won't let your legs stay still.

Amsterdam's cult producer and DJ Steven van Hulle a.k.a. Awanto 3 likes his samples vibrant, his drums wobbly and his synths sweaty as a summer breeze. The MPC wizard returns to Dekmantel delivering a new club cut bursting with wonderful weirdness and a very special surprise. 

For some of you 'Pregnant' may sound familiar. Due to popular demand, we have decided to reissue this 12:42 stomper that was part of Dekmantel's Anniversary Series back in 2012. Don't be a fool and pay silly Discogs prices. We've fully remastered the 2012 version, so make sure you get this baby second time around. 'Pregnant' continuously builds around a vocal that keeps you locked in, while the carefully constructed synth progressions showcase van Hulle’s keen ear for melody. Fire on the floor guaranteed.

On the flip, van Hulle serves-up a fresh cut. 'Star Butchers' is a jazzy deep house gem, that's most likely to end up in the bag of people who admired 'Pregnant'. The bonus 'Darling Edit' of 'Star Butchers', is on the deep and dramatic side of things, and easily equally as good. The track is a co-production between Awanto 3 and the mysterious but talented Darling on keys.
