Having had the immense privilege to collaborate with Tama Sumo and Lakuti through label releases, parties, premieres and our Larry Heard film it didn't take a second thought to invite them to mix the 100th Stamp Mix. Two of the nicest, warmest, most humble souls we've encountered in music, they represent all the positive values we've tried to channel into our curation of the site since 2011. A b2b partnership in life as well as in the booth, their sets together have an unparalleled synthesis. Naturally they've translated this into this 160 minute mix - our longest Stamp Mix to date - which encapsulates what a club session together might sound like. It feels like 100 should've taken quicker than seven years, but when the guests and their mix is this perfect, we're happy to wait the same time again for the next century.

Stamp Mix 100: Tama Sumo & Lakuti

Hailing from Aarhus, Denmark, C.K is the main man behind Safe Distribution and its affiliated labels, such as PRS and Help Recordings to name just two. He has been known to release under a variety of different monikers, including the ambient-focused projects 3.11 and 355.11125. C.K is also part of several collectives, namely 2 Bit Crew, Maizena, and the infamous Regelbau crew, alongside Manmade Deejay, DJ Sports, Central, and more. A keen digger, C.K has a never-ending desire to find new music (and old) for his DJ sets. Whether performing solo or back-to-back, C.K is known to represent the relaxed but recognisable sound of all the labels and artists surrounding the Safe crew – usually with a nod a bit more towards the euphoric soundscapes of Dream House, with bouncy basslines and luscious melodies. In the first week of September we’re heading to the beautiful scenery of Tisno, Croatia, to celebrate the first edition of Dekmantel Selectors. In the run up to the festival, we’ve launched a new temporary podcast-series where we invite ten of our selectors from the festival to dig deep in their unique collections. The idea behind the mix is to create a Time Document, focusing on a specific period of time with the artist being free in choosing this period. This period could in fact entail anything: a certain decennia, the time he or she fell in love, The Cold War, November ’92 – March ’93, or the rise of Nigerian music. It’s up to the Selectors to choose and tell us a story based on their music collection.

Our next mix in our series is served up by San Francisco based selector Solar, who speaks his own, beautiful language. Often leaning towards the more sci-fi, atmospheric, and acid-lined ends of the dance music spectrum, Solar is surely adept enough to steer the party any damn direction he well pleases—a talent which has seen the West Coast jock become a much more regular presence across the globe, while still managing to hold down the fort at the helm of his home city's famed Sunset Sound System parties. 

His jacking and yet mind-blowing Selectors Time Document-podcast covers an imaginary set, and is a dedication to his friends of Wicked Sound System. "This is an imaginary set sometime in the early nineties at a Wicked Sound System Full Moon Party. These were legendary parties in the early rave days here in San Francisco, and were a massive influence on me becoming a DJ and also, the beginning of Sunset Sound System. I heard most of the records within this mix from anyone of the Wicked DJ’s. Whether it was Jeno, Garth, Markie or Thomas Bullock, I was always blown away by there live sets or mixtape. Wicked are celebrating their 25 Year Lunar Boogie this year so this is dedicated to them!"
