Here’s Kantocast 019 Diereva - “Human Nature Machines” 

Diereva is the downtempo electronic music project of Gigi Giustiniani. Over the last 15 years he has made several documentaries, and has always played the violin, only coming to electronic music a few years ago.

*What pushed you towards music production? Where did the inspiration come from?
I found very stimulating in electronic music the greater expression of sensations rather than concepts, often contrary to cinema, and the possibility, e and that's why I favor livesets, is not having to define each track in a single product, but rather sharing the process that goes through them.

* Do you think music interconnects with culture? How does the environment you live in affect your music?
I believe that music is the best way to communicate between different cultures, to communicate the essence of a culture even just through sensations.
What I then see, and what I really like, is that, since I started with electronic music, many of the relationships that have been created are with musicians, DJs and labels from all over the world, and often finding a lot of empathy even if the only point of contact is the music.

* Do you get inspired by any other form of art?
Yes, the cinema instead. It’s always one of my first influences, trying to make cinema but without image, without one only defined image. Now I find more cinema in electronic music than in cinema.
And sometimes I'm stimulated by a single picture, as in the case of the eruption of Mount St. Helens.
I often also use poems. I am attracted above all by the sound, and by the images they create, then with the music around me it seems to me to better understand their meaning.

* What makes a set a good one?
A liveset like a dj set lives on the influences of the situation, which is the real stage of the performance. I think the dj is not the performer but the director, the engine that activates the scene that happens on the dance floor. 
Recording him at home, I'm always afraid that he'll sound cold and unlived, and in this case the scene I try to activate is more intimate and often follows more introspective dynamics.

* What’s the process you follow when bringing tunes together? Is it instinctive only or do you plan ahead?
Usually I prepare a set list which I then modify during the live. Trying to figure out what I'm going to do serves me as a general guideline, but then becomes a comparison between what I expected and what is happening.

* What would you like to say about your podcast?
This podcast is a studio recorded liveset.
Reasoning with a little detachment on the themes I touch on, I realize that I always move between human, nature and machines, and their relationships. Just as I believe that electronic music is one of the ways of managing the human/machine relationship by seeking an almost micellar communicative system, the themes that I naturally find myself touching often concern the relationship between these three entities.

I've been away for a while ... working hard and doing [Envision] festival things.  💜

I have always been influenced by various genres of music, which inspires my need to [somehow] incorporate as many sounds, styles, and moods as possible into my mixes.  

This mini-mix is a sample of what I love to play and is also inspired by all the amazing music and artists I had the pleasure to experience at this year's Envision Festival.

A Voyage of Spirits by zOnkh ⚗ VOS 049

Versatile producer and DJ Matthias Harnitz from Hannover (UNESCO City of Music/Germany) is the musical mind behind the "m.age.project", amalgamating cross-genre electronic tunes out of the ordinary with diverse cultural influences and enchanting ethnic sounds. Starting out as a classically trained jazz piano player, he released a colorful bunch of globelectronica, classy deep house, latin lounge, trippy nu-jazz, chillout & meditation music on three full albums, several EPs and on more than a dozen compilations with labels like Sony Music, Zyx/Ayianapa, Baikal Nomads, Lump Records, Ohxalá Records, Shango Records, Nu Bohème Recordings and Peacelounge.

In 2013 Matthias Harnitz had the honor to compose and play music for His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama which was performed with 400 kids in Hannover at an educational event concerning the future of children and the need for a Global Ethic.

With his 2017 album "Tattoo Tara" and his "Elemental EP" in 2018 "m.age." made a change of direction, now exploring the deeper realms of organic house and mystic ethno-electronic club music. With beard braids behind the turntables he successfully premiered his new sound at one of Europe's biggest worldbeat festivals, "Masala", in 2017. Today the m.age.project is manifesting as a highly appreciated gem for open-minded listeners, clubbers and fellow artists all around the globe!
