Returning to Saved Records for the first time since 2013, Berlin based soundwizard Santé delivers a quality two-track EP of subterranean, bass-driven techno.

“Ghostwriter” is a highly hypnotic, heady and underground tech cut drives with a relentless energy. Build around a stabbing bassline, pounding 4/4s and fluttering synths, the track locks into a magnetizing groove. As the track evolves, the German producer eases in some fuzzy, warm electronics and lush pads, creating a subtle interplay with the intense, druggy layers that lay beneath.

“Stay” is underpinned by a devastatingly simple yet hugely addictive rolling bassline. As the bass grumbles below, punchy beats plough forward alongside loopy FX and soulful vocals. Stripped back at times but showing a matured proclivity for shifting through the gears, the track builds tension without ever spilling over into chaos.

On September 21, 2019, I had the pleasure of playing at Sun and Stone (rave in the cave!).   The cave I played in and the people I played for were magical, and I will never forget it!  As the sunlight seeping into the cave turned into moonlight, I played after Reid Speed, nervous to follow her 160 BPM drum and bass.  Here is my set, with love.  Thank you Bill Kraemer for this beautiful experience and thank you Josh Wilkins for capturing this memory.  Big shout out to Teodora, Nora, and Gregory for coming with me.  WOOF!

Connie Yin has been a major contributor to New York City’s underground electronic scene for over a decade.  With a deep fluid mix of forward thinking 4/4 styles and a defined rhythmic sensibility that flows from her alter egos as a thumping rock drummer and bass player, Connie is a steady crowd favourite and an accomplished pro who always brings the goods. Whether it is as resident DJ for ReSolute, one of the world’s hottest itinerant underground parties, or on the road touring from Brazil to Dubai, Connie’s aptitude and vigorous devotion to her craft have earned her turns alongside a litany of techno’s best.  Connie uses her own success to inspire other women to enter the world of DJing. To date she has privately trained 15 students.
Connie has been producing electronic music since 2009, under the ‘Constar’ moniker as well as Connie Yin, with a dozen releases available digitally and on vinyl, under labels such as Bedrock Records.  Connie’s love for music spans beyond electronic music;  for the last 20 years, Connie has always been involved with at least one band at any given time.  Current live music projects include songwriting and drumming with post-punk band Jilted Lover; playing bass guitar with progressive rock/punk band Bricklip; and creating techno synth pop in synth & machine heavy band Chic Choc; and also making music videos, her newfound passion.

Francesca Lombardo’s Echolette imprint celebrates ten years of releases in 2020. Throughout the decade, Francesca Lombardo’s Echolette has remained a pillar of excellence in the electronic music sphere. In celebration of ten years of releases, the leading Italian has curated a special In Retrospect mix to commemorate the sounds of both labels: Echolette and Echoe.

Across In Retrospect, Francesca has fused the two distinctive personalities of Echolette and Echoe into a timeless voyage of genres, feelings and emotions. Warm electronica, resonant techno and acid-tinged psychedelic breaks demonstrate the quality and depth of each imprint, as well as showcasing Francesca’s expert hand in curating the characteristic styles of both.

Launched in early 2010, this year marks the tenth anniversary of Francesca Lomabrdo’s Echolette. Since inception, the label has nurtured the careers of Hector, Nima Gorji, Birds Of Mind and more besides, whilst also springboarding several other of Francesca’s Italian contemporaries in the form of INTO YOU and II Faces. Six years later saw the creation of Echoe, a darker, more techno-oriented output that is often described by the label-head as the male counterpart to Echolette. Such contrasting styles have manifested in forging a symbiotic relationship between the two imprints, with the likes of Audiofly, Gel Abril, Cassy and many others releasing on Echoe in recent times.
