Skankandbass is dedicated towards the official promotion of record labels and artists in the world of drum & bass music. Since inception in 2010, Skankandbass has unearthed some of the freshest talents in the scene and has opened many doors for unsigned artists. Now, six years in to the game, Skankandbass decides to take on the role of a record label to put together a series of free download singles which aims to further help spread the work of the best unsigned, newcomer artists who deserve more recognition. 

SNB003 comes from relatively unknown Nottingham based talent, Noble aka Adam Widdowson. Noble first got into music when he was 16, always having had an ear and interest for the more fresh and cutting sounds of the underground. Nottingham's bass music scene influenced Noble hugely and he became a DJ, mainly playing around the city at house parties and small local nights. 

He took up production around 4 years ago when Dubstep was at its peak and has since dabbled with different genres of bass music, before finding and defining his current sound in Drum & Bass and establishing Noble. Follow him on socials below to keep up to date with his latest productions.

After what seems like an eternity in lockdown, everyone has found their own way to keep themselves busy. Whilst some have spent hours baking banana bread, Oxford's Deep Field has been cooking up something a little different, tasty slices of D&B goodness.

His debut solo release 'City Lights' is a neon-hued synergetic fusion of sound and feeling, it's ethereal and euphoric introduction making way for a sublime bass driven groove that wouldn't sound out of place on a Liquicity release. Its driving low end funk is gorgeously accented by crisp rolling drums and a smatter of think break, while the whole track is drenched in atmosphere which transports your mind straight to its namesake. Feet pounding down concrete streets, immersed in the soul of a city, people blurring past and bright lights overhead.

Deep Field's work wears its heart on its sleeve, unabashedly giving a clear nod to that unmistakable Hospital Records sound. Technimatic and Nu-Logic jump out as clear inspirations with their new age dancefloor focused liquid, but there are also flashes of Netsky in his synth work and pads, as well as a touch of Break's Bristol flavours channelled through the drums.

The first of many from Deep Field, 'City Lights' is an appetiser for those hunting for a new name in contemporary liquid funk. Stripped back, futuristic dancefloor drum & bass with soul, groove, and meticulous production in abundance.
