Do As You Please return with their 4th label release in the shape of volume 1 of their annual compilation series, entitled “With Us”.

DAYP continue to champion their ethos of delivering tasteful, experimental and forward thinking music whilst supporting up and coming talent from the UK and beyond. This release houses a bustling line up of label mainstays and newcomers, some of which have recently received support from BBC Radio 1 DJs such as Jaguar, Danny Howard & Pete Tong. 

Over 9 tracks, the compilation explores timbral possibilities within house, acid, tech house, breakbeat, big beat and electro. The impactful, varied and dynamic collection of work embodies what Do As You Please is and strives to be as a label and music brand. 

The artists and label have defied the setbacks of the pandemic, coming together to showcase their slice of lockdown history in artistic form. As the world craves a renaissance of culture, on the cusp of an impending summer of love, this developing collective is showing signs of a prosperous future and being an important cog in defining an era of British dance music.

With Us Vol. 1 VA Compilation // DAYPWU:001 PREVIEW

To mark this pivotal half decade anniversary, Manchester brand Do As You Please are launching an eight track VA compilation, trail-blazing some of Manchester's hottest prospects in electronic music. The release celebrates and redefines the label's sound, building the foundations for a powerhouse of talent. 

Shining a light on the North’s hotbed of innovative artistry and culture, and maintaining the brand’s ethos to nurture grassroots talent, all eight tracks on the release come from local producers. Do As You Please has called upon friends new and old to curate a collection of music that’s ready for a world stage.

The sound of the compilation is dynamic and doused in character and groove. Each track showcases the artist’s prowess within the sub-genre they’ve explored. Running through the release is a leading-edge UK and European deep & tech house sound, with Mica (UK)’s beautiful & deep “There’s Ya Dip”, Haze’s fun-loving but cool-as-they-come “Gelato”, and Moiser & Haze’s underground roller “Rula”. 

Swales’ “Forgiveness” provides a progressive, peak time, acid tinged masterpiece, affirming that the young producer’s devotion to his craft is paying dividends aplenty.  

 DAYP resident Rhodri’s “World Rhythm'' exquisitely flies the flag for the classic US house & techno sound, echoing the foundations of Manchester’s electronic scene.. An unrelenting, percussive piano groover giving a nod to the pioneering fathers of Chicago and Detroit.

Joe Roche’s candid approach to a driving dancefloor weapon with “Who’s This?”, is reminiscent of early Patrick Topping, with added underground acid appeal.

Samo Lung returns to the label with “Turbo Uber from TWH to DBA”. Sam’s seasoned ability and expertise shine throughout this track. A Nu-Trance acid pumper, purpose built for Manchester’s Strange Quarter venues - The White Hotel and Derby Brewery Arms, exactly what it says on the tin! 


Leeds’ event outfit, Limit’s boss Rowland (UK) closes the compilation with “Chaos Engine” - a journey best experienced locked in from start to finish. Hypnotic house music at its best with forward thinking ideology, arrangement and sound design.

Berry Black - I think I am in Love

Rolling into their 6th year, Manchester’s Do As You Please welcome back brand-head, Joe Roche, for his first EP since 2022.

Life since lockdown has seen Roche performing 150 gigs per year at home and abroad. Alongside supporting the Manchester DJ scene through his work with Reform Radio, and hosting regular events across the city, Joe has been working quietly on redefining his sound.

The first instalment comes in the form of DAYP:003, named after a new member of the DAYP family - Chunks the Maine Coon cat.

Chonk EP delivers a tasteful yet familiar sound palate, spanning peak-time main room to summertime terrace, exhibiting Roche’s signature sound design, versatility and fun-loving approach to house music.

Let’s Go maintains Joe’s anthemic, 90s infused production style, delivering blistering 909 drums, classic house piano and Detroit vocals. Chonk explores a blend of acid house, garage and electro, with focus on playful sound design and a mischievous disposition. The third track, Serious delivers an accessible and timeless deep house vibe, suitable for parties day and night. Finally, More Monie is a DC10 terrace ready, hip-house groover.

Over a year in the making, a strong offering from the returning producer.

Over the years childhood friends Jur Bienfait and Teun Latour have shared and developed their passion for sourcing tracks and creating high energy sets.

For his first release on the Jambutek imprint, @Zambiancki serves up some stripped-down house music with a gritty aesthetic. Boasting left-field flavour and a playful nature, the two track EP sees the Italian DJ, producer and live-act exploring texture and rhythm to great effect. @MYR-uk cranks things up a notch with his remix of "The Q", distilling the original's airy pads and vocal cuts; pairing them with a bouncy breakbeat.

We welcome label boss, Joe Roche, for the first release on the Do As You Please imprint. This comes in the shape of a limited 300 copy, four-track, 12” – White Umbrella.

Do As You Please is a Manchester based online record store and mix series, delivering a variety of musical styles and supporting local up and coming talent. Venturing to new territory, the brand has sights on gathering a strong artistic community and releasing music through the in-house label - showcasing what’s good up North. This release marks the start of that journey, and what better fashion to begin than a four-track Acid House EP? 

In a time of fast fashion and disposable culture, the label seeks to create art with character and longevity. The ethos is based around unlimited stylistic boundaries and strives to deliver quality first and foremost. The artwork has been curated by two invaluable members of the Mancunian graphic design community, Trevor Johnson & John Walsh. Both designers were a staple part of the Hacienda and FAC51 artwork team and have continued to share their talent and experience in the Manchester community since. 

DAYP:001 is a hi-octane affair, spanning across the Acid House spectrum. All tracks differing in style but maintaining pace and energy throughout. 

White Umbrella sets the tone with a big room warehouse, classic breaks feel - climactic drops and 90’s nostalgia at the heart. 

Dogmatic follows, with a down and dirty basement onslaught with devastating claps and lead line; to ensure any one-eyed pill pirates pull their socks up and stand attention. Electro/breaks aesthetic & full of surprises.

Rock ‘n’ Roll drives head first through anything it comes across. A track that has serious warehouse appeal and a thundering acid bravado. 4 to the floor acid thumper designed for big rooms and smiling yellow faces.
 
Double Lively bears a softer touch - with more intrigue and air to breathe. A bit Deep House, a bit Acid House. Day time blue skies or late-night euphoria. 

This release is a one off. Any represses going forward (if any) won’t include the artwork this one has. Do As You Please hope to make a lasting impression on anybody involved and would love for you to take this journey with us.

Some words about the EP - When I started working on some new Acid Savannah tracks I opened my old hard drive and found some analog synth lines recorded a while ago. The first track was born from those synth lines and inspired me to produce a few more tracks with a similar vibe. Acid Savannah is always in between dub/house/tech with minimalistic approach and lots of analog and FM synths.
