As spring comes into full force and the reopening of venues is transforming into a realistic prospect, we deserve to be treated to a phenomenal mix which powerfully explores the depths of the music we crave so dearly. This is exactly what Turbofantasia has gifted to the April edition of the DAYP mix series and we could not be more grateful. 

Having started DJing in 2016 in Leeds, this dedicated DJ has since been carefully developing his craft to become a definite one to watch. After being nominated in 2018 by Babystep Magazine for their mix of the year, which explored the dichotomy of perspective and reality, he subsequently joined the prestigious magazine as a resident DJ and writer.  More recently, Turbo has joined forces with Sunset Sessions as a resident, as well as working alongside Utopia Music. Indeed this a man that clearly works, lives and breathes his tunes.

With a foundational appreciation for the power of sampling, which he discovered through Hip Hop and RnB, morphing into a further passion for French House, Turbo’s taste is as eclectic as the styles of his major DJ influences, such as Shanti Celeste, Moxie and Ben UFO; all of which is showcased in this mammoth of a mix.  It begins with swarming, space-infused pads and atmospheric synths, automatically alerting the listener to close their eyes and prepare for a journey, as he escorts us through a meticulously selected range of house, techno, acid, electro, UKG, breaks and electronica. It swells with energy, as he intersperses atmospheric sounds with funky grooves, rumbling basslines, and bouncy rhythms. 

Indeed this is a mix that just keeps on giving, as Turbo Fantasia spans through our psyche, simultaneously inducing dark, meditative moods while also igniting a bright, exhilarating energy. One cannot help but feel a momentous sense of nostalgia, accompanied with a much welcomed feeling of hope and anticipation while listening to this mix, indicating the incredible devotion and care of this talented artist. Thus we at DAYP are extremely proud to present the one and only, Turbo Fantasia.

Rolling into their 6th year, Manchester’s Do As You Please welcome back brand-head, Joe Roche, for his first EP since 2022.
Life since lockdown has seen Roche performing 150 gigs per year at home and abroad. Alongside supporting the Manchester DJ scene through his work with Reform Radio, and hosting regular events across the city, Joe has been working quietly on redefining his sound.

The first instalment comes in the form of DAYP:003, named after a new member of the DAYP family - Chunks the Maine Coon cat. Chonk EP delivers a tasteful yet familiar sound palate, spanning peak-time main room to summertime terrace, exhibiting Roche’s signature sound design, versatility and fun-loving approach to house music.

Let’s Go maintains Joe’s anthemic, 90s infused production style, delivering blistering 909 drums, classic house piano and Detroit vocals.

Chonk explores a blend of acid house, garage and electro, with focus on playful sound design and a mischievous disposition. 

The third track, Serious delivers an accessible and timeless deep house vibe, suitable for parties day and night. 

Finally, More Monie is a DC10 terrace ready, Hip-House groover.
