BRVNOV - Bloom (incl. Gui Boratto)

NATIVO (@nativo-nativo-nativo) are kicking off their compilation series, right after experiencing a global pandemic that ended up changing our reality and how we interact in it completely. Seeking to promote a safe space and new perspectives for electronic music in the north of Mexico, with an approach that prioritizes the musical part and always on the side of artistic concerns, their creative team: Roliva, Prince Terrible, Fausto and Chinosynth (@chino-synth), identified the need for a platform where all this could happen in the region.

Celebrating the beginning of this journey, theyve prepared a compilation of 9 tracks by the creative team and guest artists such as: Alex Aguayo, Undefined Pattern, Technicism, Sixtoagusto and Velax. It registers the birth of this trip with new sounds, considering and honoring references of the past, thus narrating a new spectrum of possibilities. Volume 1 it’s a sonic adventure to contemplate, and at the same time, enjoy from beginning to end.

The Dutch-American legend Orlando Voorn is back on the block with a very, very yummy 4-tracker that is masterfully channeling his deep love for Detroit techno and Chicago house. “No Cellphones” recalls Green Velvet’s classic Relief Records sound, applying a sinister bouncer voice that commands everybody to put their f***ing cellphones away. It’s quite a tantalising idea to drop this tune at an Afterlife party. “Raise The Bar” is a primo minimal heater for prime time usage, classic Voorn intensity through and through. The flipside harbors two gorgeous, summerly house tracks with plenty of soul for those sun flooded festival floors. Orlando Voorn reigns supreme.

For this 43rd release, we present the collaboration of two influential artists in the national scene. On one side, we have Calystarr, known for his releases on Nein Records and Espacio Cielo; on the other, Cannibal Coconuts, also veteran of the Espacio Cielo family. This combination results in the NEPAL EP, where deep atmospheres merge with dark disco and synthwave elements, producing two original tracks that will undoubtedly make an impact on any dance floor. Both tracks stand out for their hypnotic energy, immersive synth lines, and dark rhythms that maintain a constant tension.

The title track, "Nepal," starts with a funk-infused bassline, which gradually intertwines with hypnotic melodies and acid and cosmic arpeggios, creating an enveloping soundscape. The second track, "Synths from the Moon" delves into darker territories, featuring arpeggiated lines paired with long, sustained string chords that uphold tension throughout the entire composition.

Regarding the remixes, we have two of the key figures from Espacio Cielo: Moo Monster and Parissior. Moo Monster retains the original track "Nepal's" tension but introduces a more disco-oriented bass, compacting the track from the outset and
enhancing its astral journey. Parissior, on the other hand, delivers a remix clearly aimed at the dance floor of “Synths of the Moon”, incorporating a techno-leaning bassline and leveraging the acid elements to create a final track worthy of the best dancefloors.

The next EP on Just This comes from Octual, an established figure on the Dutch underground techno circuit. His 3rd release to date is an exploration into melody and beat composition – a journey through uncharted territory.
“Jupiter’s moon” presents a fleeting view of different landscapes - claps and hi-hats depict the lights and shadows of a sublunary word. “Untold Places” reaches an otherworldly place where rhythm and metre counteract each other and obscure sounds sway us in and out of reality.
Amsterdam based electronic pioneer Sterac provides two remixes, analysing and repurposing the molecular details of Octual’s productions.
His first rework of ‘Jupiter’s Moon’ provides a stunning and heartfelt view, exploring the intersection of each artist’s approach. For the dub version he reveals a darker sentiment, creating a dancefloor oriented secret weapon.

DOC RECORDS is an independent record label founded in 2013 and operated by Brazilian architect and music producer Gui Boratto. The name is a reference to "Denominazione Di Origine Controllata" or D.O.C., used for certifying all different types of food which follow a set of regulations and come from specific geographical areas. In this case, it's about music that relates to Gui's own sound-like principles: to Gui, more important than style, it is the music itself that and its beauty and harmony that count the most. Thus, the intent to launch quality timeless music, avant-garde, rhetorical and with a well defined and efficient language and expression, regardless of its shell. 

After all, there's only good or bad taste.
