art | werk welcomes another two bright shining stars. Hailing from sunny California, with past releases on Lobster Theremin and Shall Not Fade, Edward White debuts with his signature sound - dreamy, slightly lo-fi house and is joined by Tagavaka, coming out of Scotland, known for his outstanding work on Anjunadeep.

Both tracks serve two different moods, Edward´s original brings out a summer vibe for these early DJ sets and Tagavaka takes us on a bit more melancholic journey with his rework, for these much later or early in the morning moments. As his bio says: “Tagavaka means to drift away, in search of love, adventure or closure.” We shall hope that this quest will be fulfilled.

I first tried DJing in June of 1998, using a broken Technics 1200 and an unreliable belt drive turntable from a local thrift store. I wasn't competent until after picking up real 1200s a year later, but that summer was the departure point for the many twists and turns of my DJ life.

Now it's 25 years later. I have little to show in the way of fame or money, but I'm rich in friends, music and memories. I'm celebrating those loves in the best way I can, by sharing music from throughout the long, weird journey.

I'll be performing one livestream mix a month from January to June of 2023, then putting the live cut on Soundcloud a few days later. Some will be broadcast from my basement, some from live gigs, and some from who knows where? Each mix will cover distinct tempos and styles I've played over the years, all while maintaining the heady, melodic, sometimes dark vibes that characterize all my music.

I hope family, friends and fans join me for any or all of the 6+ mixes. The February edition features dark, weird, deep progressive house from the likes of Bedrock and more, spanning all but six of the last 22 years and getting really weird for a while there.. AKA "Can You Diggers It?"

We're back with three fun Tigerskin party grooves.
‚La La La Song‘ was a secret weapon for many Dj's when it came out in Spring 2011.
We've seen big smiles on the dance floor to this one. The ‚lyrics‘ just go ‚La La La‘ throughout the track, forming a simple canon. Originally the vocal was just recorded as example for a planned vocalist but Alex liked it so much, he kept it that way.

‚Jankowski‘ came out in 2014 on the short-lived Electronique label from Manchester and unfortunately stayed widely under the radar. It's a nice groover with classical strings and a cool break that leads you directly to a mountain pasture full of cows.

‚Anthem‘ is a brand new club tune that will shake your dance floors with it's super catchy percussion patterns, ducked cymbals and a 303 line straight from the alien ship. The vocal gives you a direct command on what you should be doing when hearing it: DANCING!

DOC RECORDS is an independent record label founded in 2013 and operated by Brazilian architect and music producer Gui Boratto. The name is a reference to "Denominazione Di Origine Controllata" or D.O.C., used for certifying all different types of food which follow a set of regulations and come from specific geographical areas. In this case, it's about music that relates to Gui's own sound-like principles: to Gui, more important than style, it is the music itself that and its beauty and harmony that count the most. Thus, the intent to launch quality timeless music, avant-garde, rhetorical and with a well defined and efficient language and expression, regardless of its shell.
