This piece composed by my daughter.

All notes for all instruments scored and midi file exported.

1 Flute, 1 Oboe, 1 Clarinet, Horns 1 and 3, Horns 2 and 4, Violins 1 and 2, Viola and Contrabass

There were 5848 notes entered! OK, some copy/paste of some phrases kept the work down a bit.

Key sigs used (other than C/Amin)  Atrimus 1#, Apollo 4#, Hephastus 6#, Hades 4b ).

All the instruments except Clarinet and Contrabass were all doubled up with slightly altered sounds with detuning applied to get fatter and better sounds. The sounds from VOPM are really quite thin.

Very hard to get sounds which are not like Yamaha DX FM bell/boings. 

Each movement is for a different set of Greek Gods - see the timeline for these.

Because the overall track is long, you might like to dip into the different movements and listen to your favourites!

Once the MIDIs had been created for each track ... the workflow was thus:
Each track was built by programming the synth for the sounds I needed, then the FX were added to the track chain, and the synths tweeked. Once I was happy I froze the tracks WITHOUT the fx chain. Then I used Reapers drag to pull over each fx from the synth track to the rendered audio track (thus keeping all the settings). I did this twice for each track (hence the "28" instances of TAL). Then the pairs of tracks were panned and fx tweeked to taste.

Tal Bassline  --- 28  (all tracks doubled up and layered with different pan, verb and comp - depending on which fx are on which track!)

[Now at version 3, small bits of volume automation done]

[Now at version 4, extra soloing added before and after the main solo to brighten the sound and lift it a little out from the very dense soundscape]

[Aw heck. Now at Version 5. Better dynamics now I think, wall of sound still there, but overlaid solos now thinned out and EQ'd as well]

V6, rimshots down in the mix and the end fade is longer.

V7, lots more surgical EQ ... maybe this one breathes a little more.

Notes on the sound design:

All sounds programmed from scratch as follows.

The lead organ has 4 layers. One is a tuned percussion sound to give that classic Hammond style jazzy attack.

The Bass has 3 layers, one for the string attack, another for the body sounds and another for the low resonance. 

The piano hits at 1.03 onwards are 3 layers. 

The Percussion is quite complex - the kick is 3 layers, the hats, ride and snare 2 layers each.  The tuned toms (hear them as the panned fills) are only 2 layers!

The easy one was the organ doing the chords - simple 2 layers one a basic organ sounds and another to add body.

and, oh yes, the wahwah voice is JUST one instance Digits, with verb and EQ!! Just so we are clear about modulation eh?

The download is a FLAC. Even a 320kbs mp3 doesn't seem to have the "bite".

The synth player from OSC 73 escaped! He turned up late for the session, funked out, but managed to get his rig ready for an "out of tune" solo near the end! No-one on stage could see because they all had BIG hair and dark glasses!

This track has overtones of an earlier track about Philae. This one is more "up beat" about its fate!

The synth player from the last 2 rounds has been well and truly slapped and told he must turn up and only play chords - he's now just the "pad man".  The drummer was released from his duties too and given a synth kick and hat drum pads to hit!

This track made especially for the KVR One Synth Challenge #77 (OSC77) using only sounds made by the VSTi Charlatan.

If you have the time, please download the original wav file I uploaded. This is a very good example of what Soundcloud can do to really really mess up the dynamics when they transcode - you will be shocked at the difference I am willing to bet on this!

Most sounds this time made by big tweaks to presets as a starting point - of course, the resulting patch is unrecognisable to the original! only a few from scratch -

DoctorBob - HippyHoppy - (OSC 78 OR2v )

This is a generative electronic piece composed for the OSC 79 using Lokomotiv VSTi as the only sound source plus DAW and 3rd party (free) plugins only.

This is an experimental piece using generative music software. As the saying goes "All the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order". Due to the probabilistic nature of the process, some dischords are inevitable. I have used rhythmic, ambient, patterns, chordal harmony, and followers in the processes. 

No editing of the generated MIDI files has been done, just some mixing and volume automation plus the usual EQ, verb and pan.

I hope you enjoy this little departure into an area close to my heart in the music creation arena.
