Solid funk track. I'm jealous of your playing. Reminds me of Stevie Wonder or Billy Preston.  Gotta agree w/ the others about sound design and mix, but I too had a demanding April, so I feel ya there.

Jazzy and funky, big hair and dark glasses, white spangled suits, its all here ;) And it is nicely played and articulated, can almost take it for granted you're so good at this! Good luck :)

KVR One Synth Challenge  OSC

Tal Bassline submission for OSC 65

DAW: Reaper (yee haw)

Once the MIDIs had been created for each track ... the workflow was thus:
Each track was built by programming the synth for the sounds I needed, then the FX were added to the track chain, and the synths tweeked. Once I was happy I froze the tracks WITHOUT the fx chain. Then I used Reapers drag to pull over each fx from the synth track to the rendered audio track (thus keeping all the settings). I did this twice for each track (hence the "28" instances of TAL). Then the pairs of tracks were panned and fx tweeked to taste.

Tal Bassline  --- 28  (all tracks doubled up and layered with different pan, verb and comp - depending on which fx are on which track!)

V7, lots more surgical EQ ... maybe this one breathes a little more.

Notes on the sound design:

All sounds programmed from scratch as follows.

The lead organ has 4 layers. One is a tuned percussion sound to give that classic Hammond style jazzy attack.

The Bass has 3 layers, one for the string attack, another for the body sounds and another for the low resonance. 

The piano hits at 1.03 onwards are 3 layers. 

The Percussion is quite complex - the kick is 3 layers, the hats, ride and snare 2 layers each.  The tuned toms (hear them as the panned fills) are only 2 layers!

The easy one was the organ doing the chords - simple 2 layers one a basic organ sounds and another to add body.

and, oh yes, the wahwah voice is JUST one instance Digits, with verb and EQ!! Just so we are clear about modulation eh?

The synth player from OSC 73 escaped! He turned up late for the session, funked out, but managed to get his rig ready for an "out of tune" solo near the end! No-one on stage could see because they all had BIG hair and dark glasses!

This month was a real challenge!

When I looked at Odin, I came up with the idea of a true One (!) Synth Challenge – just a single instance, no excuses.
I dove deep into sound design and quickly realized: this would become a real borderline experience.

While endlessly tweaking, I kept discovering new sonic paths – sometimes inspiring, sometimes frustrating.
Odin could be pretty temperamental when dealing with MIDI, but in the end, I managed to shape something that feels raw, tense, and expressive.

So here it is: Grenzerfahrung (borderline experience) –
a track born from limitation, chaos, and way too many hours. ;)
