A new (promising) music platform is born: Hailing from Culiacán, in the north of Mexico, Nativo kicks off its journey with a vital nine-track compilation featuring none other than Alex Aguayo (FREEDL038 as Mahkina), Undefined Pattern (SXDNS197), Technicism, Sixtoagusto (SXDNS031), and Velax plus the big masterminds behind the project: Roliva, Prince Terrible, Fausto (SXDNS064), and Chinosynth (FREEDL021).

“We’re not a label, nor a promoter, venue or club. We’re a space for the electronic music culture and its actors. If it’s honest and well done, we’ll take it”, said the lads in their press release text. Signs the project will be successful are abundant, starting with the aforementioned selection of artists for its debut release in addition to the supportive and open-minded attitude they intend to adopt.

The track we chose to review/premiere is undoubtedly one of the highlights of the VA: Ricardo Oliva aka Roliva delivered one of his best works so far. “Voltagge” is intense, wild, and fierce, the kind of theme that was cooked to be served only at peak time. Savoury!

Chiara Cerchice leads the YEY group (@yeymusic) and in 2019 they released their acclaimed ‘More Cowbell’ LP, then followed it up with 2020 single 'Russian Love'. Now Djale, aka Alessandro Sarsano (@djaletrax), has reshaped three YEY tracks with an extended package that show off their various sounds. The sunny and upbeat 'Stockholm' opens with a catchy groove and feel-good melodies. The bass is warm and the drums skip with a real sense of charm before the sensuous lyrics add a further layer of warmth. 'Broken By Tears' has a more melancholy feel with pensive chord work over raw drums, while sparkling notes bring light. The drums eventually break up as an angelic vocal appears before the groove uplifts once more. The retro-future drums and surging rhythms of 'Couldn’t Care Less' come awash with cosmic arps and nostalgic drum fills that will raise any dance floor off its feet. Then come three versions, with 'Stockholm' (Dub Rock and Down Mix) getting stripped back to languid guitar riffs and plenty of mixing board effects over dub-disco drums. The brilliant 'Broken By Tears' (Venice Strings Dub Mix) is a lush affair perfect for open-air dancing in the sun and last of all 'Couldn’t Care Less' (Down Guitars Mix) comes with a lead acid line that mutates over the slapping drums. This is a diverse and timeless package of real electro-pop and disco joy.

Soshi Takeda & Tom Vernon - B17? (Overseas Edit) [Misplaced Recordings]

Brainchild of Multi Culti A&R, Sascha Funke and Niklas Wandt were introduced by Dreems, who charted a course for the seasoned Berlin-based producer and funky multi-percussionist and singer. 

Wandt was just about to enter the scene forcefully with his collaborative 2LP with Wolf Müller and the debut single of his band Neuzeitliche Bodenbeläge. In the icey cold of his warehouse rehearsal space, Funke had him record a variety of slapped, bowed and scratched percussions (congas, talking drum, prepared cymbals played with a bass bow) over his tracks. These first efforts were later expanded into joint sessions at Sascha's home studio and, within a few weeks, the journey reached it’s destination: Wibe strasse, Deutschland.

At first glance, they seem an odd couple: a techno veteran of almost thirty years meets a side-burned upstart socialized in Free Jazz and Krautrock. but the shared sonic influences come through in the hypnotic, dubbed-out sound, perhaps rooted in the close connection the two share to the Rheinland region in West Germany, Funke as part of the Kompakt family and Wandt by origin and socialization in the Cologne and Düsseldorf music scene centered around the Salon des Amateurs. Regional flavours, global appeal. Multi Culti, promoting local collaboration, one freaky record at a time.

Niels Docter, aka Doctr, is an electronic music producer from Amsterdam, known for his blend of intergalactic disco, electro, and house. A former drummer for the Dutch ska band De Hardheid, he made the switch to electronic music in 2009.
Since then, he has brought his sound to club nights and festivals across Europe and beyond, from underground venues to stages at Mysteryland and Solar Weekend. Whether behind the decks or in the studio, Doctr delivers grooves, retro-futuristic textures, and playful energy. With releases on labels like Bordello A Parigi, Music For Dreams, and Polari Records including tracks like Tropique, Training, Now You Can Fly, and Kisses in the Dark he continues to craft music that celebrates the dance floor in all its forms.
