  5lack、ISSUGIとのSick Team、mabanuaとのユニットGreen Butter、LAの盟友Joe Stylesとのコラボ、金子巧（cro-magnon)とmimismoothとのジョイント・アルバムのリリース等々、ジャンル／国境の垣根を破るプロジェクトの数々でヒップホップの新たな地平を開拓してきた孤高のビートメーカー／プロデューサーBudaMunkが、その音楽的進(深)化を自身のビートに集約させた待望のオリジナル・ソロ・アルバム『The Awakening』を完成 !!

　香ばしい"煙"と溶け合い浮かび上がるジャズ／オリエンタル／エキゾチックな”音”のフレイバー、心地よく脈打つグルーヴ、スモーキーに身体を揺らすビート…。数々のプロジェクト／コラボレーションを経て届けられる約１年振りとなるBudaMunkソロ名義でのニューアルバム『The Awakening』は、”和”や”禅”といったキーワードを連想させる映像的で味わい深いスモーキー・メディテーション世界を、インストゥルメンタル・ヒップホップとして昇華させた作品になっている。そう、この作品を耳にした衝撃は、かつてのDJ Krushが歴史的名作『Strictly Turntablized』で完成させたインストゥルメンタル・ヒップホップの世界観を、オリエンタルな地点で昇華させて誕生させた『覚醒』を聴いた時の興奮ともシンクロするようだ !!

　08年のBudaMunky名義での処女作『Wednesday』から、ジャズ、ソウル、ダブ等のルーツ・ミュージックの香りを吸い込んだスモーキーで独創的なビート／グルーヴを生み出してきたBudaMunk。時にMadlibやDillaといった才能になぞらえたりしながら、その才能は早くから世界的な注目を集めてきた。90年代から同時代のヒップホップに影響を受けビートを作り始めたBudaMunkは、"ブーミングなドラムのキックと、際立つスネアからなるビートのスタイル"＝"Boombap"を自身のビート・スタイルのベースに置き、その進化と深化を実践し数々の名作を生み出してきた。そして、Sick Team、Green Butter、BudaMunk x Takumi Kaneko (cro-magnon) x mimismoothといった、ここ数年の様々なプロジェクトでの経験が、彼の音楽的な広がりを育むと同時に、その"Boombap"スタイルが揺るぎなく独創的なものである事を再確認させる事にも作用し、更にそのビート・メイクを深化させる糧となっていった。そしてここに届けられたニューアルバム『The Awakening』は、BudaMunkのインストゥルメンタル・ヒップホップ・スタイル＝"Boombap"が更に磨き上げられた音世界が繰り広げられた１枚になっている。

Ciynic、Bastedosといった重要レーベルを主宰、ここ日本でもパーティー"Life Force"のレジデントとして広く知られ、90年代後半から現在に至るニュー・ディスコ～アンダーグラウンド・ダンスミュージック・シーンのキーパーソンとしてプロップスを集めるFoolish FelixことFelix Dickinson。
　初期からのLife ForceクルーとしてFelixと深い交流を持ち、現在はJazzy Sport、Cinema CaravanをベースにDJ/アーティスト活動を行うMikey Varot。
　この２者を主軸に、国内外のミュージシャン／ヴォーカリストが参加するスペシャル・プロジェクト＝Dedicatoinが、Cynic、DFA、Claremont 56、Adventures In Paradiseからのリリースに続く通算5作目となるEP『It's A Dedication』をJazzy Sportから限定アナログでドロップ！！
 
  本作『It's A Dedication』には、cro-magnonのTsuyoshi Kosugaがギターで、そして鎌倉のMoney Markの異名も持つカーペンター／キーボード・プレイヤーBotch、アーティスト／パーカッション奏者Jonasがミュージシャンとして日本から参加。ヴォーカリストには、FelixとのFoolish&Slyでお馴染みのKyle 'Sly' Chandler、そしてDisclosureやCerroneのアルバムにもFeatされているシンガー／ソングライターBrendan Reillyが起用されている。

 ライブ感溢れるドラム・ブレイクに、躍動的なパーカッション、太いベース、リズミックでエフェクティヴなTsuyoshi Kosugaによるギター・プレイ、Bothによるグルーヴィーなキーボードがファンクネス溢れるサウンドを彩り、Kyle 'Sly' Chandlerによる淡いヴォーカルをFeatした、ドライブ感のあるジャズファンク・ディスコ・ソウルを展開する「It's A Dedication」。
　Botchによる鮮やかなキーボード・プレイが、ファルセットを交えたBrendan ReillyによるMJライクな爽やかなヴォーカル・ラインを際立てる、ナイト・ライフ讃歌ブギー・ディスコ「Night People」は、隠し味的なアシッド・グルーヴも効いた絶品。

　BudaMunkとFitz Ambrose。ワールドワイドに注目を集める２人のビートメイカーによる話題のコラボレーション＝BudaBroseによる2ndアルバム『BudaBrose 2』が完成。

　ISSUGI&5lackとのユニットSick Team、mabanuaとのユニットGreen Butterの活動を経て、ジャパニーズ・ヒップホップ・シーンに於ける活動の集大成となる名アルバム『The Corner」を2015年にリリースしたBudaMunk。BudaMunkは、これらの国内での活動と並行して、海外レーベルからのリリース、LA時代の盟友Joe StylesやNew JerseyのEloh Kushとのコラボレーション等、海外のアンダーグラウンド・シーンでの活動も展開してきた。

　この度リリースされる『BudaBrose 2』は、カナダ/ケープ・ブレトン島出身、現在は東京を拠点に活動するビートメーカーFitz Ambroseとのコラボレーション・プロジェクトの２作目。80s/90s感覚を保ちつつ、妖艶でマッドな才覚を注入したビートを叩き出すFitz Ambroseは、ストリート・リリースとなるビートアルバムやMix CDが口コミで即完売する程ヘッズの支持を集めており、5lack『5 sence』への楽曲提供、仙人掌のAlbum『VOICE』へのビート提供で、更なる注目を集め続けている才能。
　
　国内外のアンダーグラウンド・ヒップホップシーンをコネクトする存在として注目の活動を展開するBudaMunkとFitz Ambroseのコラボレーションで生まれた本作『BudaBrose 2』は、２人の共有する90sバックグラウンドが育んだサンプリングミュージックとしてのヒップホップの魅力、80sメロー・ムードとシンクロする艶やかで色気溢れる音の煌めき、躍動的でスモーキーなビート・サイエンスの魔法が、全編に散りばめれた暖かくも刺激的なヒップホップ作品になっている。
