I really like the delay unit that comes with the Korg littleBits set - really dirty and grainy. This is 2 layers of the 4-step littleBits sequencer, plus a hand-played line on the OP-1 using a sample of the littleBits oscillator. The drums are courtesy of Dollboy's crazy old drum machine (https://soundcloud.com/dollboy), sequenced and with a bit of LFO in the OP-1. Added a bit of extra reverb in FLStudio.

Front and Follow present Beneath Swooping Talons, Laura Cannell’s follow-up to her critically acclaimed debut album Quick Sparrows Over the Black Earth.

With deconstructed bow and the extraordinary sound of double recorder, Beneath Swooping Talons has grown out of unearthed fragments that became improvised pieces, then immediately recorded in single takes. Tapping the potent rural landscape and long-dormant musical modes, this album encompasses both wild animal calls and long forgotten liturgical chords, which drawn through Laura’s music seem to originate from the same, ahistorical place.
With a background in traditional, early and experimental music, she creates a solitary minimalist chamber music, where one player makes all the harmonies.

Based in rural East Anglia, Laura Cannell’s work draws on the emotional influences of the landscape and the sometimes dissonant chords of early and medieval music. Since founding and touring with duo Horses Brawl a decade ago, Laura has established her practice as a solo musician with recorder and fiddle her primary instruments. Her first album Quick Sparrows over the Black Earth found an audience keen for more, and she has followed the release with a UK wide touring schedule that has included Royal Festival Hall, Supernormal Festival, Tusk Festival, The Cube Bristol, Café Oto, Cathedrals, churches and National Trust castles as well as interviews and airplay on BBC 6MUSIC, NTS Radio and many others.

Laura writes:
“We build our own traditions, music which feels like a home for our souls. A place we can be entirely ourselves, where we don’t have to think, just be and channel pure music without human interception, only in the physical need to express it with the instruments.”

Laura also performs in an experimental ¬fiddle duo with André Bosman (aka electronic musician Hoofus) and ‘Oscilanz’ with Ralph Cumbers (aka electronic artist and trombonist Bass Clef/Some Truths) and renowned drummer Charles Hayward (This Heat, About Group). She is also working on a new trio project with cellist Oliver Coates & Ralph Cumbers.

Getting up too early and seeing all the land ablaze with the easterly winter sunrise before the day is shrouded with grey in moments, leaving no trace. All the ghosts are lined up to soundtrack our thoughts which know no times or dates, only tones.

Curse You, Mocking Moon

In 2016 ATLAS Arts, in partnership with Artangel, brought Bethan Huws’ film Singing for the Sea (1993) to the Isle of Skye. Huws’ film documents a group of eight Bulgarian women, the Bistrista Babi, who Huws invited to travel from their home in the heart of Eastern Europe to the edge of an island, to the north east coast of England. She then asked the women to sing to the North Sea.

This film installation marked the start of A Work for the North Atlantic, a year-long programme of commissions, exhibitions and workshops exploring singing and the sea. As part of this ATLAS commissioned a new piece of work by Richard Skelton.

Skelton has created a multi-channel composition that evokes Huws’ work and its re-sited presentation in the Scorrybreac boathouse, Portree. He has turned his attention to the west, from the North Sea to the North Atlantic. Exploring traditional songs, field recordings, and inspiration from the landscape of Skye, its seascape and the stories that accompany them, Eilean Fuinn suggests that the sea and the landscape are "endlessly singing to each other" over the vastness of geological time.

This was the reciprocal remix for tunng, in exchange for their remix of my track 'The Cross I'd Bear' - as featured on the '(Remixes from) The Nutty Tree' LP (MH-284).

Sadly, I lost the project when I moved country, back in 2011.

This was about 50% done, I liked where I was going with it though...

Conrad Schnitzler (1937&ndash;2011), composer and concept artist, is one of the most important representatives of Germany's electronic music avant-garde. A student of Beuys and Stockhausen, he founded Berlin's legendary Zodiak Free Arts Lab, a subculture club, in 1967/68, was a member of Tangerine Dream (together with Klaus Schulze and Edgar Froese) and Kluster (with Dieter Moebius and Hans-Joachim Roedelius) and also released countless solo albums. The blue album ("Blau") from 1974 was Schnitzler's second solo LP. Our reissue features <b>six bonus tracks.</b> Out June 15th.
