You Know You Like It (DJ Snake Remix)

1. Uli Teichmann: "Live Improvisation, Jazzweekend Regensburg" . 1999
Brothers Andi and Hannes Teichmann were exposed to music right from birth by their father, jazz saxophonist Uli Teichmann.

2. Totalschaden: "Datengesichert" . 1989
Back in the day. Andi and Hannes formed their punk band "Totalschaden" in 1989 when they were just 9 and 13 years old: Andi played guitar, Hannes was on the mic, with brothers Cornelius Kellner on bass and Tobias Kellner on Drums.

3. Totalschaden: "Burning" . 1994
In the latter years both Totalschaden’s line up and music had changed. By 1994 the brothers were playing together with Michael Stein, Lucas Kuchler and Martin Haygis. Oh, and Hanne’s voice had dropped in the meantime!

4. Ultra Orange: "Day Six" . 1996
After Totalschaden Andi picked up the drums and founded the band "Ultra Orange" (1993 - 1997) together with Claudia Milic and Matthias Lichtenegger. Their sound was more wave then punk. With Ultra Orange Andi released his first two records "Ride" and "Split" on the small underground label "Extune Records".

5. ha.te.li.b: "Turned" . 1996
Meanwhile Hannes had been bitten by the electronic music bug and had begun to dj. Under the artist name "ha.te.li.b" (1993 - today) Hannes and his friend Linus Brand produced their first techno tracks and released their debut-ep, "Plattform" on Tom Clark’s label "Gold Plate Music". Later they were to change their name to "ha.te & The Bad Financer" and have since released several tracks on the brothers’ own label "Festplatten".

6. BeigeGT: "Knights Of The Jaguar" . 2001

One year later the brothers joined forces again and formed BeigeGT (1997 - today) with Klaus Kiesswetter (bass), Martin Haygis (vocals, guitar) and Wolfgang Reutter (guitar). This time Hannes was behind the moog and Andi on the drums. They signed to "L’Age D’Or" in 2001 and released several albums and eps. In 2005 the second guitar player Wolfgang Reutter left the band.

8. Gebr. Teichmann: "Barzer" . 2000
In 1998 Andi turned also to electronic music and started to dj. They begun to spin as a team and also produce electronic dance tracks together. They released their debut single as "ha.te & Andi Orange" after which they became "Gebrüder Teichmann" on Kompakt Records (1998 - today). It was not long before this became the brothers’ main project.

In 2001 they met the composer and zither player Leopold Hurt. Almost immediately they began to collaborate, creating together a beautiful project, simply named "Teichmann Hurt" (2001 - today). Using the unusual combination of zither and electronics they create together a unique deep kind of live electronica.

11. Hannes Teichmann: "Jäger" . 2001 
Also in 2001 Hannes released his first solo-ep. As a solo artist, Hannes’ sound is dry, funky and invariably a little dirty.

One year later, in 2002 Andi followed suit with his first solo album, on Festplatten. Andi’s solo work is often more rock-influenced and melancholic.

Together with Leopold Hurt and the male classical vocalists Alois Späth, Klaus Wenk, Franz Vitzthum and Gerhard Hölzle Andi and Hannes began the live project "DJ Machaut" (2005 – today), which is based on the revolutionary motets of Guillaume de Machaut (?-1377). Originally, the idea was to contrast electronic reinterpretations of Machauts mediaeval works with the classical versions, to show how similar his early composing-techniques were to the way in which electronic music is produced today. But the partnership progressed quickly and soon "DJ Machaut" were also working on their own material, in which the classical singers actively interact with the electronic part.

Since Andi Teichmann and Hans Forster’s collaboration on Andi’s solo album "Fades" was so successful, the pair were encouraged to found their own rock project, which they have named "The Happy End" (2006 - today).

In June 2011 the house producer Marek Hemmann and the Singer Fabian Reichelt released their first album to the masses on Freude Am Tanzen. Only Our Hearts to Lose was one of the first markers on the way these two were headed they began with the street-sweeper single "Left/Right": the synthesis of pop and club, the melting of Marek Hemmanns singularly fine austere tech house and Fabian Reichelts lyrics. The results couldn't be disputed and even more appreciated, yet still not quite every techno fan could quite feel this flyer from their favorite DJ in strange (quite pop) clothes. Perhaps not everyone trusts themselves to just say to themselves: bring the pathos, the feelings and the melting voice because it just has to be! At the same time in the club context, because as they both are of the opinion that there is the most thrilling place for modern songwriting. Where else can you find the fundamentally excited and music loving bunch in one place? Where else can an artist drop his 'hurray' atom-bomb on the masses and drop it on the one? Thus, 'Only Our Hearts To Lose' presents a shimmering, beautiful being in the club and the balcony, between a tender sunset and the deepest part of the nights dance. 

Im Juni 2011 brachten der Houseproduzent Marek Hemmann und der Sänger Fabian Reichelt bei Freude Am Tanzen in Jena ihr erstes gemeinsames Album auf den Markt. Only Our Hearts To Lose war ein erster dicker Markstein auf dem Weg, den beide im Jahr zuvor mit der Straßenfeger-Single „Left / Right“ begonnen hatten: die Synthese aus Pop und Club, die Verschmelzung von Marek Hemmanns markantem, fein austarierten Tech House und Fabian Reichelts lyrischer Stimme. Das Ergebnis war nicht unumstritten, noch immer goutiert nicht jeder Technofan die Ausflüge seines/ihres Herzens-DJ in fremde (noch dazu eher poppige) Gefilde. Aber vielleicht traut sich auch einfach noch nicht jeder, einmal ganz freien Herzens zu sagen: Ja, bitte, her mit dem Pathos, her mit dem großen Gefühl und dem Schmelz in der Stimme, denn das muss einmal sein! Auch und gerade im Clubkontext, denn das, so sagten beide, sei ja schließlich der spannendste Ort für modernes Songwriting, wo sonst findet man so viele grundbegeisterte und musikliebende Menschen auf einem Haufen, und wo sonst kann man als Künstler alle seine Hurra-Atome so gewaltig mit der Masse zum Gleichklang bringen. So ist Only Our Hearts To Lose ein schönes, schillerndes Wesen zwischen Club und Balkon, zwischen zartem Sonnenaufgang und tiefster Tanznacht.

It was a nice remix to work on, with some great field recordings, a lovely simple piano riff, and some looped vocal samples which all slotted nicely into the new structure I wanted to go with - something a bit more club compatible than the original, but still hopefully carrying the feeling.

I messed around with the field recordings in the Monolake Granulator a bit, to get some subtle glitch/randomness in there, but other than that I went pretty straight on the arrangement, just gradually introducing the layers and adding a new synth to punctuate the peak, and a new bassline and chord variation.

The idea with the field recording/glitched intro section was to try and make something non-melodic and a bit harsh and cold, in attempted polar contrast to the warmth of the main melodic section and enveloping bass ie I wanted try and make the bleak part emphasise and accentuate the nice part.

So, anyway, here it is, as a free download for all.
