For the first time in years, I’ll be sitting out this burn.

Some of my most cherished musical memories were forged out there in the dust among lifelong friends. Where else can you watch the sunrise reflected in a giant golden dragon that’s blanketing the desert in warm sound? Or play music on futuristic light art sculptures and cathedrals built by friends? What madness.

Here’s a studio mix I quickly assembled tonight so that my loved ones (especially one in particular) can take a piece of me out there in spirit since I’ll be missing in body. This mix is a little less hard-hitting than some other recent sets that were recorded live - instead, I imagined this mix soundtracking a friend's sunset drive through the desert, or maybe chilling under the moon with a good set of headphones.

To all of you burning this year — have a transcendent time and get yourselves back in one piece, ya hear?

The Swiss artists Trauma Duo are signing this new and third release on Seven Villas Voyage, Seven Villas Music’s sub label which is devoted to the publishing and spreading of ambien, drown and downtempo alike sounds. 

Through the tracks on this album called ‘Lucid Dreams’- Sandro Ambrosi and Stefan Willenegger -aka Trauma Duo- take us into a synthesized, dreamy, ambient journey, with reminiscences of the 90’s, and in which everything has been meticulously measured, to the moon and back. We are, undoubtedly in front of a record which is pure music gold. 

These pair of Swiss producers from Bern, who have gotten reunited -thanks to Pablo Bolivar’s call- after a few years break, surprise the profane listener with the wintry, slow and taciturn beauty of their evocative synthetic bid. Both wrapping and charming. 

The melancholic and liquid “downtemper” ‘Sunset Beach’, the floating synthesized clouds in ‘Flowing Structures’, the friendly mist of ‘Something Strange’ and ‘Epic landscape’ and the soft pop-ambient atmosphere in ‘Fly Away’ are, among others, highlighted landscapes from this delicious album which succeeds to takes us through a secret and sensitive virtual space from which, most likely, we will not want to ever come back.

Trauma Duo -  Sunset beach

Pablo Bolívar, this time releasing under his alias Mind Groove, begins 2017 following the canons with this album, in which he pays tribute to his homeland, Cantabria. In fact, the 10 tracks included in this long play were initially written in his hometown, between the sea and the mountains, between the blue and green. 

‘The sailor and the mountain’ is perhaps, the most special and sensible job within the ambient boundaries of Pablo Bolívar aka Mind Groove, having already published mixes since 1999, adding a different dimensión to the tracks released under his alias Pablo Bolívar, more oriented to Deep, house and club sounds. Therefore, the release comes together with a wonderful tale, written by X. Balboa, in which a finnish sailor plays the main character. It should be read slowly and carefully, while listening to the tracks in the album. This way, the merely musical and geographical aspects transcend towards a wider, rounder, almost perfect experience. 

‘The sailor and the mountain’ is a trip around the sound and vital bowels of Mind Groove. From the first track to the last one, the deep, spiritual and emotional character of his bet are truly noticeable. The content of the album is escapist, ambient oriented, extremely downtempo, naturalistic and truth-spreading. The eleven cuts included in the present record develop around a wild Winter-tale atmosphere .’The last dreamer’ (feat.García Smith), ‘Natikha’ and ‘Shadows’ seem –from its honest composition- to stop the time; whereas ‘Tigers come at night’ takes us to a more luminous place, which at times seems softly clubby. The slight lowness of the piano in ‘Inside you’ (feat. Pablo Bolívar) contrasts with the friendly, fragile and twilight touch of tracks such as the one naming the album, and in which Manuel Obeso has collaborated. Delightful and intimate, in any case.

In a coacting and natural way, the Brazilian Tropical Twista Records & Casa Caos netlabels have their stories intertwined by closeness and mutual sympathy - we are sister labels. As a first result of this intersection and/or collaboration, we present the ‘Mvindivagante’ compilation: a 16-track sound expedition, intuitively bringing together artists who interpret, reinvent, question and displace meanings of their own experiences with the world.

Where does music cease to be music and become the experience of sound?

The original 'Little Fluffy Clouds' (https://bit.ly/36R5YJV) was a genre-defining track for ambient electronica in the 1990s. Thirty years later, we thought we can update it for an exercise in listening. So instead of sampling Steve Reich's music (as in the original) we decided to use his phase looping approach and added some of the 808 sub-bass that moves us so deeply.
